was alfie in love with dia or was it just infatuation? are the feelings still there? did she ever express returning them?

i'm not sure if alfie has ever been in love in a real kind of sense because while he's older inside than his real years, he's still young and can be quite childish about emotions. he cared for her in a way and i think a lot of his romantic feelings derived from wanting to be a hero in a way but he's accepted that it wasn't going to work out and is just working to be her friend instead
