usually when i put my gifs into frames, i duplicate the frame element to match the number of animation frames in the gif and then just paste the gif into it. idk how else to do it if there is a way, but it's always worked for me

you can copy the frame and paste it over the gif as the top layer. if you need to move the gif around, make sure you select all of the frames so it moves them all at once.
