not oc but i don't think his writing's awful it's just very straightforward, there's a lot of ground that he has to cover because it's primarily plot driven, but i feel an emotional attachment to most of the characters! if you like fantasy and getting lost in a world over the aesthetics of writing, i'd say give it a shot, the only really terrible stuff is his smut but those scenes are barely more than 2 pages long at any given time and they're more hilarious than bad
