With the increasing of homeland security and the protection of muggleborns at an all time high, the Ministry has implemented new regulations concerning the marriage of a muggleborn wizard or witch to any pure or halfblooded member of wizarding society. The benefits of a marriage to these two blood types is not to be tampered with or abused and the Ministry has created the Marriage Act to ensure that its laws are being followed as they were initially meant to be.

A quick overview of the Marriage Act:

  • Beginning on October 6th, 1979, Muggleborn wizards and witches who married to pure and halfbloods within the past five years will report to the Ministry for an exam that proves the marriage was made out of commitment to one another and not to violate the protection laws implemented for the benefit of muggleborns.

  • If an exam is failed, the muggleborn wizard or witch in question will be sentenced to prison for a time determined on the duration of the 'marriage' and other surrounding elements. The marriage will be abolished in the eyes of the Ministry. 90% correct answers is required for the exam.

  • Exams will be conducted orally and separately to ensure that cheating does not occur.

  • An exam schedule will be mailed to those in question before Monday, as the exams will occur through the week.

  • SCHEDULE
    Monday: (Last Names) A - E
    Tuesday: F - J
    Wednesday: K - O
    Thursday: P - T
    Friday: U - Z

It doesn't matter when the ministry is violating the basic human rights of my friends and colleagues. A decent society would riot against this sort of shit. Instead, we can all sit back and watch as every high browed pureblood family sings praises of the Ministry and insists that the Ministry is helping to create a culture of purity.

What else am I supposed to think, Corner?!

They're punishing everyone for the actions of a few. And, might I remind you, that if it weren't for the first set of ridiculous rules, many of these new marriages that have been popping up would not have occurred in the first place.

The Ministry underestimated its constituency when it thought that muggleborn witches and wizards would sit back and just take everything they dish out with a smile on their faces.

And while I'm not currently married, I plan on eventually traveling down that path. I deserve the same rights as you and your kind your family.

As if the first words out of your mouth weren't an insult to my family or friends, before you tell me that I have nerve, I suggest you pay attention who you're speaking to and what you're saying before you get surprised that someone does not take kindly to your words.

You're going to get in trouble and it's only going to be your own fault.

Sorry, I didn't realize that you were one of those purebloods. I'm surprised that you don't feel absolutely disgusted with yourself after shagging a muggleborn this morning. Or was that just some sort of sick, twisted game you lot play? See how many gullible women you can string along, 'fifty points if you get the vocal activist in bed!'

My parents raised me to stand up for what is right, even if I end up standing alone. And I intend to do that, even if it lands me in a jail cell in Azkaban.

I---That is not-- Yes, that's exactly it. I would have won ten galleons had you admitted it out loud, but alas my pocket is now lighter.

    Have fun in prison.

Pity. Good thing you've got mummy and daddy's trust fund to fall back on I could always make a public announcement of our copulation. I wouldn't want to deny you of any funds due to you.

Don't you even care how--how frustrating this is on the other side? You have everything so bloody easy and

    Before I'm sorry.

I just--thought you were different. I didn't think about the choice of my words and that you might be affected by them because of those with whom you associate. And--I'm just so angry and it's not helping me, and I've completely flown off the handle and oh my god why am I apologizing to you you. Yes.
