MONTROSE MAGPIES SHOW SUPPORT
In an unforeseen turn of events, the unknown reasoning behind Montrose Magpies seeker Odette MacFarlan's benching seems to have reached new heights. Fans during the first match of playoffs were seen wearing "TEAM ODETTE" shirts to show support to the young player as she sat on the sidelines. Though obviously not to be outdone, an equal amount of other fans were seen sporting "TEAM SETH" shirts as well. Could this be the beginning of a fan base split? It certainly seems so now that the fans have taken things into their own hands.
"We heard about what they were going to do beforehand, and we knew we had to do something about it," an avid Wadcock supporter declared after the match. "It's not fair that he gets unfairly neglected since he did nothing wrong to begin with."
The fact that the team lost to the Catapults earlier this afternoon will only seemingly stir more controversy. If MacFarlan had played, would the team have won and most likely put a squash to these escalated events? The fans are already choosing sides on this matter as well.
"Of course we'd have won if she'd played!" a fan stated, but only to be interrupted by another to proclaim it wouldn't have been so, since the Catapults have a reputation for beating out the Magpies in playoffs anyway. But either way, it seems the fans are more than willing to keep the rivalry going even after the team's season is finished.
"We'll be making another statement soon, don't worry," MacFarlan's fanclub president revealed to this reporter in a candid interview. "Odette doesn't need to be on a team that treats her like this."
Wadcock's fan president could not be found for a response.
Both shirts were generously donated, and can be seen below.
