Jason fought the drugs as long as he could because he wanted to be awake when Sammy got there. Even while the doctors looked him over and asked him questions about how he felt, he was worried about her. Did she get any coffee? She got cranky when she missed her eighth cup of the day. Jason had figured out the daily "re-fueling schedule" as he liked to call it.
It usually got her to stick out her tongue at him whenever he reminded her of it, but it was too funny for him to ignore.
Colonel Fury wouldn't be happy about everything that happened. There was no way he didn't know what she'd done, and he was a smart man. He would know /why/ his daughter did it, too. Fury hadn't had any vocal problems with Jason since he started, but he wondered just how long it would be before Fury decided that the young agent was too much of a liability to Sammy's career and life. Jason never wanted to be an issue for Sammy; he trusted her to tell him if he was becoming one. His concentration drifted away from him as he contemplated this and he fell asleep once the meds kicked in.
His eyes fluttered open sometime later and he saw Sammy in the chair near his bed.
"Earth to Agent Fury." he says, a little dreamily. "Do you remember...do you remember the day we met?" he asks her, his words a little slurred.
