Science!
"I thought the point of working for a slightly-clandestine international organization was not having to go to science conferences," Valini pointed out on her cell and then sighed. "I don't care if it's only a cover for transporting samples to another site, you've never been to one of these. Alright alright, just  where do we need to go and if you say Newark, I'm going to cry." Oy, she'd need to reschedule some appointments. She decided everything eaten would go on the company tab, they could just deal if it was chic restaurants all the way.

"Point," she smirked and caught the keys. This was probably the nicest car she'd ever driven. "And no reason we should skimp on the food while we're at it." SHIELD higher ups might reconsider trying to send them on dull conference delivery missions.

The engine purrs as it comes to life and Lena can't help the shiver of excitement that runs through her. This was turning out fun.

Valini laughed and nodded as she climbed into the passenger seat, checking it didn't eject or have a missile under it. "Exactly and I bet we can work up an appetite by the time some decadent tickles our fancy on the road." If the car didn't blow up when they started it, it probably wouldn't unless something bad hit it, so she relaxed when the car only purred to life. "Swing by the front, I'll run in and get the samples before the R&D guys know what we've done."

She'd admit there was a tangible sense of relief in the air as the car swings around to the front of the building they're in without setting anything off or blowing up. Ooh and it was as smooth a ride as she had thought. Why hadn't she gotten to try this before?

"Hurry back," she calls as the car stops in front.

"Just keep the car warm." Valini snickered and sped-walked up the stairs and through the wide lobby, trying to look not too conspicuous. It's not hard to find the superior that ordered the trip and pick up the refrigerated box, smiling widely and cheerfully before rushing out. Better to look hurried and slip out than get caught this early in the game. Asking forgiveness versus permission and all that.

She all but ran down the stairs to the waiting car. "Go go go!" She hopped into the car, giggling like an idiot. They had insanely high levels of degrees, they were allowed to be silly.

Lena spends most of the time she waits trying not to bounce in her seat with a giddy grin like a child. So if some people pass by an 'agent' in a new car who's fiddling with the radio a tad too long, that's her desperate attempt to look a least somewhat like serious business.

Seeing Valini come out the front doors, she has to remind herself to wait until the other woman actually got in the car before gunning it. And soon the front of that SHIELD building is left behind in a cloud of smoke and dust with the sounds of a top level scientist cackling with glee. She actually felt like a mad scientist for once!

Her passenger joins in the cackling and makes a mental promise to text to Dugan or someone sympathetic to explain where the car went. They go all but screaming off the complex and into normal roads to get to the high way. "We need loud music, don't we? Loud and bouncy," she declared and stared fiddling with the radio console. "Holler if I find something good."

It must look silly, two people with all those degrees and IQ points cackling as they zoom away in a...borrowed car. "It's like a rule of the road trip practically. And I'd say that one is suitably bouncy. Let's hope everyone else has their windows down in the event we burst into song." Which was also a rule of the road trip.

"There." She sat back in satisfaction when she found a station playing something catchy and energetic. It wasn't Bhangara per se, but you couldn't really follow the lyrics of those songs. With the windows down and the breeze coming in, she bops to the chorus and stretches out in her seat. "So far, way better than departmental meetings and filing reports."

It's a good thing they didn't find any, but at least it'd be better than any spontaneous karaoke of dragostea din tei. Garrbled lyrics ahoy. "Not a bad way to start a traditionally dull assignment. But dear lord that last department meeting? You could just tell everyone wanted to book it back to a lab."

"Hell yes. Make them think twice about sticking us with milk runs and science conventions." Valini groaned at the mention of the dreaded meeting. It had been dreadfully painful with tedium, only having Ben Stein monologue the introduction would have made it worse. "Those meetings are slow on months we haven't had a raid by HYDRA or AIM or something from outer space. It's back when the team-leaders nod off."

"Exactly. And they have no idea how annoying it is to field when's-your-paper-coming questions. I have enough to start my own journal but security protocols mean no publishing! Dear lord are those questions annoying. Only plus is we won't need to speak at any." But there's no way to be in a bad mood with a car this nice. Of course the music and...borrowing aspect to help too.
