"I thought the point of working for a slightly-clandestine international organization was not having to go to science conferences," Valini pointed out on her cell and then sighed. "I don't care if it's only a cover for transporting samples to another site, you've never been to one of these. Alright alright, just  where do we need to go and if you say Newark, I'm going to cry." Oy, she'd need to reschedule some appointments. She decided everything eaten would go on the company tab, they could just deal if it was chic restaurants all the way.

Spontaneous liberation of the car had nicer ring to it. "Ugh, I know. I can't write about any of the theories and work I have because while there would be anonymity, it's kind of easy to guess who I'm talking about if you know who we work for. I could write a book already on battle fatigue and dynamic personalities." She waved her hands in the air to illustrate the futility, dropping them in her lap. Instead, she started singing with the chorus of the next song, winking at a bewildered driver as they passed him.

Preemptive or practical socialism, retroactively displaced, relocalized, all of those covered it quite well. They were just good samaritans taking this car on its needed test run. "I bet between the two of us we could fill a lot of shelf space with our work. And while SHIELD appreciates the work they don't appreciate it. Gamma radiation related mutations and their effect on the cytoskeleton? That's nice but tell me if he can get up after a rocket launcher hit." Lens laughs at the bewildered driver and joins in on the singing, even adjusting the sunroof for added effect. The good ol' road trip. And on company dime.

Val had to laugh at that, because crying over how true it was wouldn't improve anything. "I think SHIELD doesn't count a project or experiment a success unless there's an explosion, blue electricity and/or spontaneous muscle growth on whoever was involved. And they take offense to anyone being diagnosed as 'crazy enough to work here, but sane enough to be trusted with a gun'." She stretched when the sun roof retracted and enjoyed the blast of wind in her face and hair. "We'll have to compliment the R&D team on this build. Maybe a basket of coffee or something."

"Let me guess, that diagnosis applies for pretty much everyone who works here," she laughs. Of course the psych evals for the science people were supposed to be a little...saner. didn't actually work out that way. "The good stuff though. I know for a fact that they're stocked up on caffeine pills." There's a wink as Lena can't help but tease, "But I shouldn't be telling the lady with the psych evals how I know that should I?"

She pulled a long face and chuckled, shaking her head. "Sometimes it feels like it, doesn't it? Trust me, the screening process is a smidgen more involved than that." There was many levels of functioning 'sane' to work with, how many scientists were willig to mess with Kree and Asgardian tech with no instruction manual? "No but mentioning to the lady prone to profiling jags is nice. But yeah, some of those hawaiian beans for sure, have you seen their coffee grinder?"

"One would hope so," she chuckled. "I'll tell you where they keep them, off record of course." She winks good naturedly and continues singing snatches of the song playing. "Are you kidding me? I make excuses to go use their grinder. It's beautiful. Why can't the biological wing have one half as nice? The psych ones any better?"

She shook her head. "Not even close, sad to say. We should commission one for the other wings, unless they couldn't bear to sully their pride and joy with another. They use ball bearings, it's insane." That grind and the stills tucked away from official eyes, sometimes it looks like the R&D people had all the fun.

"Guess you only get the nice stuff if you're the reason there's so many fire hazard regulations," she huffs slightly. "Now if we blew stuff up...doubt we'd get much."

"So since this is on company dime...want to mess around with that gps and find us some food splurging opportunities? Money is no object," she smirks at her partner in crime.

"I'll have to try blowing up my next session, see how it goes." She screwed up her face and contemplated the ramifications of pulling such stunt. Clapping her hands, she nodded before leaning forward to activate the GPS. We need something delicious. A steak house or french bakery or... HA! This sounds divine, and I've heard their dessert are worth having first." She punched in the code and waited for the car to take them to their meal. "Mm-mm"

"I've probably got some stuff in the lab that might help with that."

"And who are we to argue with that? Dessert first it is, and then we'll have some equally mouthwatering entree." With that declaration the car speeds up and purrs down the highway. Splurging on meals counted as an emergency. Nice thing about speed limits that a SHIELD car and ID made them only suggestions. To food!
