Cait moaned when his warm hands went to her back. "By the gods that feels wonderful."
"Convince your child that it's time to be born already," she joked. "I'm a week overdue and it doesn't seem like this kid is going to come anytime soon."
I could go into the reasons accelerating the time cycle could be bad, but I'm pretty sure you were joking. In any case, very soon... I hope.
"I am joking, but I feel as big as a whale," Cait said. "And I can't get comfortable."
He extends a hand, using careful telekinesis to give her better support and ease some of the gravitational pull on her.
Hopefully that will help a bit.
"Your arms around me will help me more," Cait said. Not really, but she really loved having his arms around her.
He snuggles up next to her, getting his arms as much around her as he can in her current state, while summoning a yellow anti-grav chamber, setting them to half-gravity.
Cait smiled when he snuggled up next to her. The enjoyment would only last for a moment before a foot or hand stuck a target inside of her. "Ohhhh. I think that was an organ hit."
She took one of Ty's hands and put it on the spot where the baby was kicking.
"He or she is going to be a great swimmer."
He nods.
Those are some impressive kicks. I definitely think he or she's going to take after their mother.
He hopes.
"Hopefully he or she will get their brains from their father," Cait said. "My insides hurt from the kicking."
Their father's brain is plenty messed up. I'll gladly take a straight C student if it comes without the absorption cells. he answers sincerely, if a bit worriedly.
Cait put her hand on Ty's and gave it a squeeze. "Everything's going to be fine," she assured him. "I promise." She knew he worried about the baby and absorption cells, but she had to believe that things would be fine. Otherwise she'd be a nervous wreck as well.
Nervous wreck is pretty apt. Thankfully, the pregnant woman has been good at being the sane one, and has friends to help fill in bonus sanity when things get bad.
I know. We're going to have a wonderful baby. I just... kind of hope he or she takes after their mother a lot. After all, she's pretty wonderful herself.
"Flattery, sir, is what got me into this condition," she joked. "I think his or her father's pretty wonderful. So either way, this baby is going to be absolutely wonderful."
Cait shifted a little. Less gravity was better and she was a little more comfortable. "How about getting a poor pregnant Atlantean a pizza?"
Yes, but its not like I can get you any /more/ pregnant. Absolutely. What kinds do you want?
Kinds, plural. He wants to make sure to cater to all of her whims right now.
"Extra cheese and anchovies," Cait said. "Extra anchovies." She squeezed his hand. "I love you."
I love you too. he answers, before telekinesing his cel phone to his hand, dialing the pizza place to get her a couple pizzas, and a small one for himself.
"You're the best," she said when he was done calling. "I'm going to get in the shower while you go get the pizza." Cait's skin was feeling a little tight and she needed to rehydrate.
Do you want to do that, or do you want me to turn up the humidity in the anti-grav sphere so you can keep resting?
"I want to feel water on me," Cait said as she tried to maneuver to get off the bed. There had been arguments with her parents about being in Atlantis and having the baby born there, but Cait had manage to reach a compromise. The baby would be born in Atlantis, but until she went into labor she got to remain on the surface.
Alright. he agrees, shifting the yellow structure to have more handholds and bars to pull herself up on and help her move.
"Mom never told me about this part of pregnancy," Cati crumbled as she managed to get her legs over the side of the bed. Using the yellow construct she pulled herself to her feet. She started to waddle over to the bathroom.
He places the order, while shifting the construct to help her, bit by bit - the floor develops a moving walkway enough in front of her she can see it.
Cait was grateful for the assist. She'd be grateful when this kid was born and she had her body back. She hated feeling like a beached whale.
"I won't be long," she said she entered the bathroom.
Take as long as you need, love. I'll see about increasing the humidity in here anyway. See if we can help you get comfortable. Or more comfortable, anyway.
"I'll be comfortable when this is over and I can hold our child in my arms," she said.
Well, yes. But until then, we can at least try and limit the misery a little. Because helping out both eased her stress, and gave him something else to focus on.
"Which is why I love you," Cait said before disappearing into the bathroom.
Ty spends the time, as he has a number of times the past few months, using the ring and a bit of magic to reconfigure the room to increase the general humidity and provide more handholds and easy paths.
The water hitting her felt wonderful and despite wanting to stay in there longer, Cait cut it short. Her back was hurting and she wanted to get off of her feet.
Cait was very appreciative of the handholds and easy paths as she made her way back to the bed.
"I feel better."
Good. Very good. Is there anything else I can do to make you more comfortable?
"Put your arms around me and hold me," she said.
That, at least, he can do, settling back in with her, as wrapped around her as he can manage in her current state. |
