❧ Dimensional travel: What’s it for?
We can’t pinpoint the exact date or when it first happened but dimension travel is part of life. A valuable asset as indispensable as electricity is on Modern day earth. Indeed, for several millennia now, man has used its benefits in order to progress exponentially. It has become a sort of ‘Dimensional Network’ in which information, goods and people circulate from one dimension to the next. Civilizations nowadays use Dimension travel to its utmost potential and sure enough, it’s widely accepted as being something positive for people and entire worlds alike.
❧ Where does Dimension Travel come from?
Dimensional travel was made possible thanks to magic and that continues to be the case today. However, the amount of magic needed in order for it to function is massive. As Dimension Travel started to become more and more used, the amount raw magic needed increased. The consequence of this was that the magic began to overflow and seep its way into dimensions to varying degrees. Certain dimensions weren’t fit for holding a lot of magic and were destroyed because of it. At that point, it was already too late to back and close off all dimensional travel (they had already grown too dependent on it) so an entity known as a ‘Dimensional Bubble’ was created.
❧ What are Dimension Bubbles?
Situated in the area ‘in between’ Dimensions (space) this entity created from raw magic acts as an equalizer to the amount of magic that pours into the dimensions. There are an infinite number of DBs to which are connected all Dimensions, and the only way to travel from one dimension to the next is through these places. In other words, they are points of transit, stations if you will.
Ludus is a Dimension Bubble (DB/DBubble/Bubble/AnyWeirdSuchVariation)
What is a Dimension Bender?
If Dimension Bubbles are equalizers to magic, there exist people who can manipulate the DB’s power and change the levels of magic in any given dimension; regulators, of sorts. These select few are called Dimension Benders, and they are the people who determine how much magic a dimension can take and alter it accordingly. These are also the people who have the power to wipe out inhabitable dimensions.
They’re like Dimensional Repairmen. And the only way one can become a Dimension Bender through a long and excruciating path of hard work.
Dimensional Schools?
Created from Raw Magic, DBubbles are the only entity in existence that can sustain a Magic School. Too much magic in a dimension causes it to have disastrous consequences, but the exact opposite happens in a DBubble, it needs magic to survive and therefore hosting a magic school is the best place for it to draw energy. Moreover, for those attending the school, they can make use of their full magical potential.
