The Aftermath

(Link)
Nothing could have prepared Ichirou Sato for what had happened earlier in the day. He had not a clue as to what he would do about the small explosion in the parking lot. There had been panic and a few injuries but there was nothing too serious, those who were injured had been whisked away quickly and taken care of. The faculty had held an emergency meeting and they had asked everyone to meet in King’s Hall while security was called in to do a sweep of the grounds. When the campus was secure he brought the faculty to King’s Hall and stood at the front of the assembled group. He cleared his throat and let out a long sigh. “Hello family members, students, and faculty,” he began. “I would like very much to apologize for the terrible events that have conspired here today,” he said softly.

“The grounds have been thoroughly swept and we found no trace of any other explosives or dangerous artifacts. You can all be assured that the campus is now secure. The League of American Wizards has sent aurors who intend to stay with us for a few weeks until we find the culprits responsible for the this mornings explosion,” he said evenly. “We will be taking questions now.”

Ella had got back from the hospital a little over an hour ago where her father had been taken (against his will mostly) to go get checked out after a rock had hit him on the head. He seemed fine but they wouldn't discharge him incase he had concussion. The twin's mother had opted to stay with Ron and sent them back to school to sleep, only who could sleep at a time like this?

Unable to stay in her bedroom, Ella had found herself sat in King's Hall, gaining a little comfort from the headmaster's words. She zoned out once the angry questions began to barrage Mr. Sato. It was awfully unfair, it wasn't his fault. Looking around glumly, there was a familiar figure wandering the hall, and leaping out of the chair Ella ran over to Hendrix. "You're okay!" she gasped and wrapped her arms around his middle.

Hendrix had been wandering around the campus since the explosion and after running around with Julian. He hadn't gone back to his room at all but he had stubbornly gone to get patched up by the school doctor. His shirt was torn and bloodied at the shoulder but he didn't mind at all. He still hadn't found the twins until Ella was wrapped around his middle. "Ella!" he said, relief washing over him.

He picked her up and squished her to his chest, pressing his lips to the top of her head. "Are you okay? Is Jenny okay? What about your parents?" he questioned her.

Ella could feel tears welling up just from everything that had happened and she squeezed her eyes shut tightly. "We're all fine! Well, dad's in hospital but he's okay. We had to go straight there and I didn't have time to find you and I didn't have my phone and I think Jenny is looking for Sera" Ella blurted out, clinging tightly to the back of Hendrix's shirt. Looking up at him her eyes drifted to his torn shirt.

"You're hurt!" she cried.

"Good, good," he said still holding her tight. "What happened to him? Should we go looking for Jenny and Sera?" he reminded himself to keep the panic out of his voice and took a deep breath.

"Oh! I'm fine! I just took a piece of car to my shoulder I think," he winced a little at the thought. "I'm okay now though. Doctor Lisi stitched me up I just..." he sighed. "I was so worried," his eyes grew big, he didn't even want to think about it. He just pushed a piece of blonde hair back from her face and smiled. "We're all okay though."

Ella bit her lip and looked around for her sister. She couldn't see her, maybe her and Sera needed to be alone. It was true that the crowds in the hall were making her hypersensitive, anyway. "She'll ring me when she's ready" Ella said, her phone clenched tightly in her hand, like it had been all day.

"You're like Superman" Ella winced too and managed a wobbly smile back. "Mr. Sato says no one was seriously injured. It's like a miracle" she whispered, her eyes shining.

"Okay," he nodded. He didn't even think that they might need some private time. Hendrix didn't even pay attention to the fact that this was the longest and the closest he had ever been to another person.

He laughed a bit. "Nah, nothin' like him, well... except for maybe the helping old lady's across the street thin," he said suddenly shy. "It really is a miracle though," he said quietly. "We're lucky."

His head was already swimming with things that they would need to do to prevent another attack. "I can only hope this won't happen again."

"It would be!" he said brightly. "And we could make popcorn and tell silly ghost stories!" he went on brightly. He wasn't sure the rest of the school would take the same approach to being forced into King's Hall for a mandatory slumber party, but he could always count on Ella to cheer him up.

"We'd have the best tent village ever though, no one's tent village could compare to ours," he grinned.

Tatum/Mack

(Link)
Only still a little bit shaken up, Tatum tried to sit still and listen patiently to Headmaster Sato as they sat in King's Hall. Sera had managed to get away once things were cleared up, and she seemed to do so gladly after the blow-out screaming match that had transpired only a little while ago. Tatum had never seen her sister shout at their father like that, not for anything, and she could tell it was still bothering Mick. He kept grumbling about his youngest's new found 'attitude' and how it would do her well to cut it out.

They still hadn't heard anything from Madeline, and Tatum assumed she was still somewhere at work. The League was bound to be buzzing after today. They weren't really a huge name school, but people got crazy when their kids were involved.

Seated between her father and brother, Tatum sank into her seat a little as Headmaster Sato opened himself up to questions from the crowd, and Mick immediately raised his hand. She met her brother's eyes with a look of embarrassment as their dad began to question Sato and his staff on their ability to deal with 'acts of terrorism', as he had been calling it all day since finding out it was a bomb. "I have half a mind to take all three of my children out of here!" he finished boldly, with murmurs of agreement from some other adults around them.

Really, with Tatum and Rath both eighteen and Sera being seventeen in a few months, he didn't have much of a leg to stand on with his threat. If they wanted to stay, they were legally entitled as wizarding adults. But the threat still embarrassed her, making her flush and lean down in her chair more.

Once she found the chance, sick of listening to the barrage against the staff and Headmaster already, the

redhead excused herself to go to the washroom. With no intention of going back, even if it might tick her dad off, Tatum made her way outside. It wasn't smoky anymore and things had been cleared up, but there was still a deep divot in the ground nearby. Something flying off and skidding the ground as she went, she guessed. Scuffing her foot through it, she sighed.

She was always prepared, and as she walked and neared closer to the woods, she reached carefully into her shirt; pulling a joint from her bra. She lit up carefully, head ducked and oblivious to the person standing around and smoking a cigarette nearby.

Mackenzie hadn't gone into the hall, she had opted to walk along the edge of the forest instead. Kia had gone off with the rest of the healers to take care of the more critical victims and Hunter had probably gone to comfort Michi. Mack didn't really care to hear the loads of angry parents yell at the headmaster, she was sure that they would be debriefed about the events during training the next day anyway. Besides, there was no one for her to go check on or comfort, the only people that came to mind was Michi and the Donnelly sisters. Mack had seen Michi, but she was sure that she would like a little alone time with Hunter. Both of the Donnelly sisters had made sure that she would stay away from their father too, and Mack knew that he was already angry enough. She didn't want to start anything by showing up and pissing him off.

Sighing, she plopped down on a rock and lit a cigarette, noticing for the first time that day that she had blood on her hands. She was sure that it wasn't hers, but it still made her stomach turn slightly. There hadn't been bleeding victims in their simulations, or people who were distraught and crying. She had managed to stay focused all day, and she was sure that they had helped a lot of people, but now her hands were shaking slightly as she took a drag from the cigarette. Hunter had freaked her out earlier by running off like that, she couldn’t protect the tall blonde if she just took off into danger. It could have very well been any of the few people she cared about with hot shrapnel in their faces.

Shuddering she ran a hand through her hair, pulling her bangs away from her face. As soon as her hand traveled over her eyebrow, she hissed in pain. Perhaps some of that blood was her own, she pulled her hand away quickly and prodded gently in investigation. It seemed that she hadn’t walked away scott free, and she wondered when exactly she had acquired the cut above her eyebrow. It didn’t feel too big but it was definitely deep. She took another drag from her cigarette and ran through all the events of the day just like her instructors had taught her. It was useful to be able to describe ever detail of an emergency, especially if you ended up with an injury you didn’t remember. She was so deep in though that she didn’t see Tatum approaching, or lighting up until she had determined what had caused her injury. It must have been one of the small explosions that occurred while her and Hunter were standing in the parking lot. Once the flames had reached other vehicles there had been a few more explosions before the aurors had gotten it under control.

Looking up she finally noticed Tatum, and a tired smile appeared on her face. She was just happy to see someone familiar who wasn’t bleeding or injured. She watched the other girl silently for a few moments before, clearing her throat. “Couldn’t handle being in the hall any longer?” She asked, dabbing gently at the cut over her eye. It was throbbing slightly now that she had gone and irritated it but she didn’t feel like healing it at the moment. It would be so much easier once she had a mirror. “You’re definitely a sight for sore eyes.”

Just as she usually did whenever someone snuck up on her, even if they had technically been there first, Tatum practically jumped out of her skin as the blonde girl cleared her throat so nearby. She rounded on Mack quickly, spluttering a bit on the smoke she had just successfully swallowed. "F-Fuck!" she managed to get out, clapping herself on the chest to try and stop the coughing.

"D-Don't fucking do that!" she eventually added, once her coughing had died down to a dull wheeze and she was able to start smoking again. She glanced back toward the hall before doing it, taking a long haul and then exhaling in gentle smoke rings. "Fuck the hall, they're all just.. being assholes," she muttered.

She made a little face as Mack called her a sight for sore eyes, sticking her tongue out instinctively at the older girl. "Whatever," she sighed, in her typical response. "What happened to your head?" she asked, catching sight of the little gash over the other girl's eyebrow. She scrunched up her nose a bit, stepping closer and peering at it. "Did you e-even heal that? What's wrong with you?!"

Already, she was reaching for her wand in the waist of her jeans.

"I didn't do anything," Mackenzie shot back, slightly irritated. It had been a long day, and while she might enjoy getting under the younger girl's skin, she was getting tired of always being the bad guy. "You wandered into my space kid. Stop treating me like the bad guy here." She took a drag moodily from her cigarette, glowering slightly. She didn't know what had made her snap at the younger girl, but she didn't say anything else until the redhead had stopped wheezing and spoke again.

She was about to respond and say something about how parents could be stupid like that, when Tatum was suddenly interrogating her about her cut. She raised her unwounded eyebrow in question as the girl reached for her wand, wanting to make a bitchy remark about how she thought that Tatum wouldn’t touch her at all. She kept her mouth shut though, wondering where this would all go exactly. It wasn’t as if she couldn’t heal it herself, but it wouldn’t be terrible to be taken care of and pampered a bit.

“I got hit with some car shrapnel when I was in the parking lot,” she offered matter of factly. She shrugged, and took one last drag on her cigarette before stubbing it out and looking at the girl with interest. “I cast something to stop it from bleeding but I guess I was kind of more concerned about the injured people around me. It’s just a scratch, it’ll heal up alright on its own if I don’t heal it.”

She bit her lip, contemplating what to say next. The blonde had found that Tatum was extremely hard to talk to, which was something that confused Mackenzie. She never had trouble talking to girls before the redhead, but it seemed like every little thing that left the her mouth offended the other girl. She didn’t want to ruin this potential bonding moment by saying the wrong thing. Sighing, and pulling out another cigarette, she looked back at the other girl. “I wouldn’t object if you wanted to heal it,” She said softly, lighting the cigarette and puffing out a plume of smoke. She had charmed the cigarette packet so that the exhaled smoke would swirl into celestial shapes and fancy winding wisps. “I’m not trying to be a scum bag or anything,” She continued quickly, looking slightly panicked. “It…It’s just been a long day, and I guess a little TLC wouldn’t hurt. I promise not to be weird about it, or whatever. I can always heal it when I get back to my room and have a mirror.” She backpedaled, nervously tapping the ash from her cigarette.

It had been a long day for everyone, and Tatum was getting more than a little used to being snapped at. It didn't even seem to phase her as it usually did, taking everything personal all of the time. Her mouth just pulled down into a slight frown on one side, as she listened to Mackenzie explaining what had happened to her head. "You were in the parking lot?" she asked, realizing what the blonde had said.

She swallowed thickly, surprising herself by actually feeling some late placed dread about the thought. What if something had happened? How close was the idiot if she was getting hit by flying pieces of hot debris? The thought made the redhead's frown deeper. This was exactly what she always meant when she said the other girl was always trying to be some stupid hero. "Y-You could have been like, fucking k-killed or something, you're crazy," the younger girl finally spluttered out, taking a drag from her joint and turning her head to exhale.

"That was nice like.. to d-do for people, but y-you're not i-invincible, even though I guess you like.. wanna be Supergirl or Xena or something," she muttered. "I guess more Xena in your case. S-She's like a gay icon, right?" she asked, as if she didn't already know.

Taking another toke from the joint, she found herself a little bit hypnotized by the shapes made by the blonde's smoke. She almost didn't hear her saying that she wouldn't mind being healed, until she began to ramble off more awkwardly, snapping the redhead out of her daze. "Huh?" she mumbled, somewhere after hearing 'TLC'. Which was so not what this was going to be. She had already made an ass of herself in basically lecturing the older girl a few seconds ago. She sounded like Sera or something.

Her wand was still held loosely in her hand as she stepped forward a bit, squinting at Mack's forehead in the semi-darkness. "Do you know how to do it without leaving a s-scar?" she asked quietly. Girls like Mack probably loved scars, thought she was supposed to find it sexy or something. She fought the urge to sigh, mostly because it was true. It would be kind of hot, but she was pushing that thought down before it even really had a chance to fully surface. She used the end of her wand to push some the girl's hair away from her face, giving the cut a little prod with the tip of her wand once it was revealed. "Sore, huh?"

Jenny/Sera

(Link)
Jenny had always hated hospitals, from the sterile smell to the stark white walls, and so it didn't take Paula a very long at all to convince her to go with Ella and head back to school. She had wanted to stay with her father, especially when words like concussion were getting thrown around, but the three of them sitting there and watching him sit in bed was only tolerable for so long.

He was still asking for herbal remedies, and so she had to assume that meant he was feeling all right enough. Promising to call before bed, the twins had left for school again and it wasn't really until they were back on campus that the reality of the situation began to set in for Jenny.

While Ella headed down to King's Hall to listen to the headmaster, Jenny had trouble of her own staying in their room. Or staying still. She spent almost twenty minutes pacing the floor between their beds, or trying to read and only becoming frustrated a few moments after beginning each page. She couldn't focus on anything, except what had happened, the look on all of those faces, the smell of the smoke. Blue smoke, which was quite curious indeed.

Sick of trying to stay to herself and unable to keep everything inside any longer, the blonde changed into her pajamas and pulled her hair back before heading to the most familiar place in the school besides her own room. She only knocked once on Sera's door, letting herself inside after that and not even waiting for her girlfriend to greet her before she began talking. Everything she had been thinking and dreading was just going to come flowing out, and she was powerless to stop it.

"I think if they sack Headmaster Sato, I'll resign. I should, shouldn't I? He picked me and I- I was responsible. Or I thought I was? I couldn't even-- just one simple weekend, and I couldn't-- I watched everybody! I watched everyone so closely and I don't know how I didn't know and.. what do I do?" she rambled, her hands coming up to pull at her cheeks, dragging her face down into an exaggerated grimace. "What do I do?" she asked again. Behind her, the door hadn't even been shut yet.

Sera was just laying in her room staring at the ceiling when Jenny burst through the door. Her languages notebook was open across her chest but she had barely picked it up. She just couldn't stop thinking about everything that had happened. The explosion alone was scary enough add on top of that the fight with her father and worrying about Jenny and if Ron was okay all day and Sera was just about losing her mind.

She had opted to stay in her room instead of going down to King's Hall with her father and Tatum. She really just wasn't in the mood to be around him right now, she could tell how disappointed he was, just by how he looked at her. When Jenny started talking immediately Sera jumped off the bed, her own worries getting pumped to the side.

She stepped towards Jenny pushing the door closed behind her and slipping her arm around Jenny looking at her seriously. "Jenny calm down, don't say that that's not going to happen and you're not resigning either. You're an amazing Head Girl, this isn't you're fault. No one is going to blame you." She turned to her girlfriend, who looked like she was completely panicking. Putting her hands over Jenny's on her cheeks, she leaned in and kissed her. "I'm serious relax, there was no way for anybody to know something like this was going to happen."

In a calmer state, Jenny would have easily admitted that Sera was right. If anyone could have predicted the disaster, it never would have had a chance to be a disaster in the first place. But calm wasn't in her vocabulary right then, and mostly she felt like she had let down the school, faculty and student body alike.

"I just-- I said it was easy, no problem, it'll be a great weekend! And everyone was actually so.. well-behaved! With all of the parents around," she began, trailing off briefly and biting at her lip. She let Sera continue to hold her cheeks, pouting a little comically at the taller girl. "Are you sure I shouldn't resign? That's what politicians have to do when there's a scandal!"

"There's nothing you could have done differently." She was still holding her hands over Jenny's cheeks, trying to comfort her. She frowned when Jenny pouted, even if it was a pretty adorable sight. "Babe, look at me." She asked softly, lifting Jenny's chin slightly so they were looking each other directly in the eyes. "There's no way I'm letting you resign. You're too perfect for the job." She smiled at her girlfriend and started to laugh. "Besides politican's usually only resign if it's a sex or money scandal so unless we have a sex tape I don't know about or you've been stealing money from the school treasury I don't think you have to worry."

Not really having much choice as her chin was tipped up an inch or two so that they could see each other, the blonde was still pouting. "I know, I just.. it really sucks, it was my first big event," she murmured. "And I didn't even help anybody cause I was just- focused like, on mom and dad. Especially dad," she added.

It was hard not to crack a little smile as Sera joked with her, and she lost the battle, smiling weakly and ducking her head under the younger girl's chin again. "Well, I dunno about the sex tape, not really my thing.. but I have no comment regarding the treasury or the six new pairs of purple sneakers hidden under my bed," she joked back, loosely looping her arms around Sera's waist as she leaned against her.

"I love you," she added suddenly, lifting her head just a little. "I'm glad you're okay but.. your dad.."

She didn't really have to say more. She had never seen either of Sera's parents angry with her, being that the infamous 'rebellion' stage had been before her time. But it sounded like he was pretty angry now, and it was just something else that was sort of her fault. She had started the fight over looking for her, which made Jenny's heart sink a little. "You're okay though, right? He'll be gone tomorrow morning.. or tonight maybe even!"

Sera couldn't help but giggle when her girlfriend joked about the sneakers. She knew Jenny would never actually do something like that. She leaned towards the edge of the bed pretending to peek. "If you did you better have bought me a few pairs too." She laughed again, grabbing Jenny's side and squeezing little as she rolled back towards her.

She looked up at the blond suddenly, looking a lot more serious now. "I love you too Jen. I was so worried about you, I'll I wanted to do was see you and make sure you were or okay and..your dad." She let out a sigh, letting everything kind of spill out at once.

"I know I shouldn't have yelled at him,I didn't even say anything about like us he just thinks you're my best friend but I said you really needed me.. he didn't catch on, I'll live another day but I was still like really disrespectful.. and in front of a whole lot of people.. I'm okay though, yeah." She stopped with a huff, finally allowing herself a breath.
