True to his word, Mikhal had worked out attaining his own little apartment through his rich friend. He didn't like to think that he was prostituting himelf out, and really, he wasn't exchanging sex... exactly. Just the pleasure that his bite could give.

The apartment was beautiful with lovely dark hardwood floors. It came all ready furnished in rich colors, mostly reds to go with the dark floors. Mikhal had sent a letter to Greer with the address on it, and nothing else, other than his name and a date with a time. He knew that would be more than enough and he had absolutely no doubt that the young sorcerer would show up. Greer was too curious not to show.

Heavy curtains hung across the windows, blocking out all of the light from the outside, and even when night came along they stayed closed. Mikhal was most comfortable at the mansion, and getting use to this new place was going to take a bit of time for him.

At the moment he was listening to Johnny Cash while he read a book, though he couldn't focus for too long. His blue eyes kept sweeping away from the words upon the pages to flicker towards the clock as the time that he'd scrawled down on the card grew closer and closer.

"Have you ever... considered seeing what it is that you're missing out on before you take your vows?" Mikhal asked as he rose up to his feet and wandered over towards the wet bar beside the sliding glass doors that led out to a balcony. It was covered by two heavy curtains, but it was obvious that there was a way outside. "Would you like something to drink? I have wine, red, and white. I can make you a sex on the beach," he grinned teasingly.

Blushing again, Greer lifted just his eyes, leaving his chin angled down hoping to hide how easy it was for Mikhal to get a reaction out of him. "I think that would be cheating. The men I'm talking about didn't know they wanted to be a priest back when they were doing all of those things. I think it's just cold feet." He hoped that's what it was, but he feared part of the reason he was here to test his limits, tempt fate. "Some red wine would be nice, thank you."

"What if it's not cold feet?" Mikhal asked curiously as he grabbed the stem of a wine glass and set it out. Opening the wine chiller, he pulled out the bottle of red and carefully worked it open with expert care so that he could pour some into the glass. "What if you realize you've wasted so much of your life doing something that you really didn't want to do at all?"

"You could say that about any big decision in life--and then nothing would get done because you'd be so afraid to commit." He sighed, convincing himself that he hadn't wasted time at the seminary was getting to be a difficult task. Mikhal was slowly tearing him apart and he wondered if the man knew it. He needed to change the subject. "So do you own this house? Rent?" He wasn't sure how vampires went about acquiring living spaces.

"Rent," Mikhal answered simply. Essentially, in his eyes, he was renting. "Most vampires always rent. We like to move around, unless we settle somewhere together. Like at Bernadette's, she owns a mansion in Cold Water where I stay most nights."

He walked over to Greer then and held the glass of wine out to him with a warm smile. He wondered if the sorcerer realized just how delicious he looked.

A prickle of anxiety touched Greer's skin and his fingers went to slip over the spot on his neck where Mikhal had fed from him. He took the glass and sipped at the liquid inside. "It's beautiful. I'm used to much more modest surroundings and to be honest it's a little dazzling. Is Bernadette's mansion really a mansion? I'd like to see it sometime. Is it safe for someone like me?"

"Someone like you?" Mikhal repeated, smiling a little bit as the words flowed off of his tongue. "If you're with me, you should be fine. We have humans who live in the house, ones that like to be fed from. And yes, it really is a mansion, and it's much more extravagant than this place is. Bernie has a fancy for pretty things."

Sometimes he couldn't tell if Mikhal was making fun of him or was simply enjoying him. He imagined it was some blend of the two. "I get the feeling I'd be too nervous for words in a den full of people like you." Or maybe it was just Mikhal he felt himself so attracted to. He'd like to find out just to assuage his concern over the matter. If it was just the whole vampire thing then he would be relieved.

"There wouldn't be any need for you to be nervous," Mikhal assured as he had a seat next to Greer again. "How did you heal?" he asked curiously. He wanted to know if, perhaps, Greer had healed himself or if he'd let the bite stay and heal on it's own as a reminder. Mikhal had closed the wounds, but he hadn't done anything more than that.

He laughed at that notion. "Why? Would I be under your protection? Off limits, guys, this is my snack." It wasn't a jab, just a bemused realization of their situation. He'd be food; he was food. "I healed them. Put a little salve I mixed up and the marks were gone in a few hours. I didn't want anyone to see them. Some of the people of my church are very prone to believing in the supernatural--I didn't want to draw attention to myself in that way."

"So to speak," Mikhal replied honestly with a faint smile. "You would be spoken for, but only so that no one else bothered you. Then again, there are some vampires who wouldn't care." Like Elgyn. "So maybe it's best that you do stay away. I wouldn't want you to get hurt."

"Well now I'm impossibly curious. Are you trying to use reverse psychology on me?" He was finished with his glass of wine already and it always helped him to relax a little. His posture was looser, leaned back on the couch. He uncrossed and then recrossed his legs so that he was angled more toward Mikhal. "Maybe I should brush up on some offensive magic so I can protect myself. Fortunately I don't need to protect myself against you, right?"

"I'm not even sure how reverse psychology works," Mikhal replied with an honest smirk. He practiced it more than he realized. A soft laugh escaped him and he wet his lips as he met Greer's eyes with a nod. "You don't have to protect yourself against me, no. But that's really for you to decide. Don't they say trust is earned?" And he was doing his damndest to earn Greer's trust so that he could slowly reel him in. He could only hope that it was working.

"I think you've earned most of my trust," he said quietly and honestly. But it still felt dangerous to admit that so he knew he hadn't given over complete trust to the vampire. He looked into his empty wineglass, considering more. "If you wanted to hurt me you would have, and your aura is--well it's not exactly hostile, but it is difficult to read. I kind of like that."

It pleased Mikhal to hear that his efforts weren't fruitless. A part of him was very aware of the fact that he was just as entranced by Greer as the sorcerer was by him, and Mikhal wasn't sure what to make of that just yet.

"I imagine it must be sort of nice, not to know for once, or have some sort of... intuition. That can be boring," he replied honestly. "And I think you've been terribly bored lately, or else you wouldn't even be here."

"Normally that particular talent helps me to help people. I can tell what they need from me to feel better. But you're right, it gets a little boring being able to tell what people are feeling without asking." Mikhal was very perceptive, and frequently nailed him dead on. Instead of asking for another glass, he leaned forward to set the empty one on the coffee table. "You are anything but boring, that's for sure."

"I'll take that as a compliment," Mikhal said as he rose back up to his feet to fetch the wine bottle. He came back over and poured Greer another glass without asking if he wanted it, and then went back to put the bottle away. "You're anything but boring, either," he added as he glanced over at the sorcerer with a slight smile. "I find you quite fascinating, actually."

He stared down at the glass, the tempting red liquid sitting prettily inside of it. Without too much hesitation, he reached out to indulge in one more drink that lasted far longer than he'd intended. "Do you have to eat every night?" He asked without even trying to act nonchalant about it.

"No, not every night," Mikhal replied as he came back to return to his seat. "Going a few nights without isn't so bad, pushing past that... Is not a good idea," he added honestly with a mild shrug of his shoulders. "If you do that, and you're not a strong vampire, you run the risk of losing control."

"Have you ever lost control? I think if I were a vampire I would go as long as I could without feeding. Knowing me, I'd probably end up losing it and only making things worse." Greer didn't know if his magical blood precluded him from becoming a vampire, and it wasn't something he wanted--but he couldn't help but be curious about what it would be like. Living forever, however, was not something he had any desire to do. He didn't have a death wish by any means, but the notion of outliving his own era was frightening to him.

"I did, in the beginning, when I was new," Mikhal replied as he wet his lips, dragging the tip of it along the center of his lower lip in thought. "But no, not anymore. I make it a point not to, it can get much too... difficult. I know some vampires that do, though. I think that maybe it's like some sort of a game to them, and for others, maybe it's the guilt."

Greer liked things to be clear cut. The idea that all vampires were different and that there were few universal truths annoyed his scholarly side. He wanted facts about them. But at the same time, he was relieved that they were as much individual people as any other supernatural creature, especially since he was finding himself quite fond of this particular vampire.

"When was the last time you fed?"

"Last night," Mikhal said as he drummed his fingertips against the arm of the couch. "A human at the mansion, his name is Shiloh. He's a lovely artist, you'd probably like his work," he added with a faint smile. "If you're going to ask if I'm hungry, the answer is yes, but I can wait until tomorrow night and go home. I didn't invite you over here to be a snack, I invited you over for company."

There was a strange sense of rejection to that, and it surprised Greer how much he'd wanted to offer Mikhal his blood again. "Oh, yes of course. I--didn't think you wanted a meal." He was a little embarrassed and he fidgeted with his pants, picking imaginary lint from the knee of his trousers.

"You're listening to Johnny Cash. His voice is amazing. Had I already mentioned that? We don't listen to much non-religious music at the seminary. Gregorian chants, choir music, that sort of thing."

Mikhal could sense that edge of disappointment, and it was very pleasing. He had Greer right where he wanted him.

"You haven't mentioned it, no," he said as he glanced over at the iPod while it sat in it's dock station. "I'm amazed at how far technology has come, I can't believe how many songs can fit in such a little device. I couldn't even work it at first, I had to have someone show me." Lewis was very helpful, and whenever Mikhal needed to learn about something new, he always went to the boy.
