andrew and jeremiah, the end is totally open for some joshua if you want ene :]

Adjusting to life at the Haven wasn't easy for Andrew, but he was doing his best with it. He cared far too much about Joshua to leave him behind. Joshua was his, after all. Where Joshua was, though, he wasn't sure. He figured that maybe the boy had been working on the tree house out back with Austin, and that perhaps the two had headed into town to get something to eat. It was dark, and the little ones had been put to bed - or at least they should have been. Hunter and Wendell usually took care of that if Joshua didn't.

Andrew was in his pajamas with a pair of glasses perched upon his nose as he read a book that Hunter had let him borrow. It was about old magic. At least the Alpha was making him feel somewhat welcome. Andrew knew that some of the wolves didn't quite appreciate his relationship with Joshua, but the truth of the matter was plain and simple - he loved the boy.

Jeremiah hadn't been sleeping all that well mostly just because he was still having nightmares. But he didn't cry and he usually didn't get up and leave his bed. Instead he just laid there and sucked his thumb while there was no one around to tell him not to do it. Tonight though he woke up and he was alone. Julian was already in another room, having gone off to look for an adult, and though he stayed by himself for a long while, he got bored without being able to sleep. Finally getting up from the bed he took his blankie and then he started down the hall dragging it along behind him. He walked passed all the rooms and went downstairs to the kitchen because he was hungry and feeling a little lonely.

The house was unusually quiet. Hunter and Wendell were locked away in their bedroom, probably spending some much needed time alone together. Sullivan was out, probably to see Robin or working on something, and Austin was obviously not there. Neither was Joshua. Vance was in his room, and that's who Julian had gone to.

With a yawn, Andrew stretched his legs out and rubbed at his eyes after he took his glasses off. Deciding to go and get a drink, he closed the book on his lap up and then started out of the room and downstairs to the kitchen. When he saw Jeremiah at the bottom of the steps, he debated on going back to bed. He wasn't the best with kids. But knowing that no one else was around to take care of the little boy, he sighed and followed Miah into the kitchen.

"Hungry?" he asked softly. "I'm not sure where Joshua is..."

Miah was wearing little feetie spiderman pajamas and they were silent on the floor as he crossed the kitchen to the counter. When he heard Andrew it startled him so much because he hadn't realized the other man was there. He jumped and slipped on his blankie and ended up falling pretty hard against the counters. Once he was on the floor on his butt he sat there, the silent moment that it took the child to figure out he was hurt drifted in the air and then he was sniffling and on the verge of full on crying, but it never came. Instead he put the blankie up against his face and he tried to hide his cries because he knew they would yell at him if he cried.

When Jeremiah fell like that, Andrew looked all together horrified, and for a moment he just stood there and stared. He glanced around as if maybe Wendell or Hunter would suddenly appear and scoop the boy up, or perhaps Joshua, but his senses quickly came back to him. Wendell and Hunter were in bed, and Joshua wasn't there.

"Hey..." he said softly as he went to kneel beside Jeremiah, and he reached out to gently touch the boy's shoulder. "It's okay... are you okay? Let me see if you're hurt..."

When Andrew touched his shoulder, Jeremiah just went limp and he tipped over onto the floor, laying on his side so that he could keep the blanket pressed up over his face. He sucked in a few deep breaths as he tried to stop the sobbing. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry." he said quickly, knowing that if he cried that Wendell or Vance would be hurt because of it, like before when Joseph had them. "Please don't tell."

"You didn't do anything wrong, kiddo," Andrew said softly as he furrowed his brow. He didn't really know all that much about the little ones, but he obviously knew about how Jeremiah had been taken. "Um... I'm gonna pick you up, okay? I'm not gonna hurt you, I promise..." He just wanted the kid to know what he was going to do. He didn't want to scare the little boy more than he all ready was. He gently lifted Miah up into his arms, along with the boy's blanket, and he got up to his feet. "No one's mad at you, and no one's gonna hurt you. It's just you and me in here, see?"

Miah didn't move as he picked him up and he just leaned against Andrew once the man had him in his arms. He was trembling like a leaf, unable to keep himself from shaking while he stood there in the man's arms. He pulled the blanket down just a tiny bit so he could see over the top of it and he looked around the kitchen. His eyes were wet, and red, and one of them was already bruising from where he'd gone face first into the cabinets.

When Andrew saw the bruise, he was half tempted to do a healing spell, but he didn't think Hunter would appreciate him doing it on someone so young. He knew that Miah would heal just fine, wolves were resillient like that, and he rubbed the little boy's back as he carried him over to the fridge.

"I'm gonna get you a little icepack for your eye, okay?" he said as he opened the freezer up. There were icepacks in the door of it of different sizes, and he took a little one out, no bigger than his palm, and went to wrap it up in a paper towel. "I'm gonna put this on your eye, okay?"

"Kay." Miah's voice came out whiney and shaky, he was still having trouble calming down after all of that and all he wanted to do was go back to bed with someone to hold onto him, but he didn't know who could. Julian kept sneaking off to sleep with other people and he was just used to being alone because he didn't want to bother hunter or Wendell. "I want to go back to bed."

Andrew gently pressed the icepack against Jeremiah's eye, and he hitched the boy up onto his hip carefully. "Do you wanna go back to your bed, or do you wanna come wait for Joshua in mine and his bed?" he asked after a moment.

The question was too hard and he didn't know the answer. Part of him wanted to be alone because it was just easier to feel things when he wasn't worried about someone else. But the other part of him just wanted to be cuddled and taken care of, and he was afraid to ask for that. So he just shruged and hid his face against the blanket again, holding it up around the hand that Joshua was using to hold the ice on his face.

The shrug clearly told Andrew that the little boy didn't want to really be alone, and that he wanted to be comforted. While Andrew wasn't so sure how good at that kind of thing he'd be, he couldn't just tuck the kid away and leave him. He all ready felt guilty enough when it came to Joshua's little brothers.

"You can stay with me, okay?" he said as he rubbed Miah's back. "Do you want some milk or water?" Because the boy had come to the kitchen for a reason, he supposed.

Miah just sniffled and he tried not cry anymore than he already was. "Can I have a cup of milk?" He was quiet as he said it and he looked up at Andrew as if he was waiting for him to tell him no or to put him down. He was still having trouble trusting anyone and he was still struggling to get back the childlike attitude he'd had before all of this. He'd grown up over night but he was too young to be such a little adult so he was just a mess.

"Sure," Andrew said as he put the icepack down and moved to get a cup out of the cupboard, choosing a sippie cup with Spiderman on it. It was obviously meant for Miah or Julian. He opened the fridge then, and poured some milk into the cup, and once the lid was screwed on he handed the cup to the little boy. "Here ya go..." He put the milk away and grabbed the icepack before he headed for the stairs. "Do you wanna watch a movie?" he asked. They didn't have a TV in the room but they had Joshua's laptop, and they could watch a movie that way.

"Okay." Really, he didn't care. All he wanted was his milk and his blankie and someone to lay with him for a while so he wasn't alone. He laid his head against his shoulder and closed his eyes as he brought the milk to his mouth so he could take a sip from the little cup. He stayed quiet, not really wanting to bother Andrew anymore than he already had.

Once Andrew was back in his and Joshua's room, he closed the door and went over to sit down on the bed. He reached for Joshua's laptop and turned it back on from sleep mode before he logged into his Netflix account so that he could pick a movie. He chose Toy Story and then got settled on the bed with his arm looped around Jeremiah.

"Are you feeling a little bit better?" he asked as he pressed the icepack back to the boy's head gently.

Once they were settled on the bed his thumb found its way back into his mouth and he laid up against him. It didn't take him long to start to get sleepy again. The netflix was weird for him and he didn't know what he was doing with the computer but he wasn't going to really question it. "I dont know."

Andrew could see why Joshua loved the little ones so much. They really were sweet, and not at all like the annoying children that he usually saw screaming and running around restaurants. Andrew put the icepack on the nightstand and gently smoothed down the little boy's hair as he pulled the blankets up and over them.

"Wanna see some magic?" he asked after a moment. Julian had called him Harry Potter when Joshua had told the boy that Andrew was a sorcerer, so Andrew thought that maybe Miah might be interested in magic.

"I don't know." Jeremiah said again, because he wasn't sure what to think about magic. Right now he was just tired and getting cranky. He curled up on his side a little more and he nuzzled his face against the side of Andrew's body. He closing his eyes and he put his thumb in his mouth again. In spite of the ice his little cheek was puffing up and it was easier just to have his eyes closed.

Andrew looked down at the little boy, surprised when Jeremiah snuggled up against his side. When he saw how puffy the boy's eye and cheek were getting, he frowned a little bit.

"I could fix your eye so it doesn't hurt," he offered, deciding that if Hunter got upset about it, he'd just apologize and refrain from doing so again.

"No." He didn't mind the pain, he just wanted to be closer to him. "Will you just hold me until I fall asleep?" he asked softly. "I was having a bad dream before and I woke up alone.' Being alone was something he was getting used to but sometimes he still craved being held and cuddled. "I'm so tired." he murmured, his words muffled from around his thumb.

"All right," Andrew said as he lifted the little boy up so that he could curl up against his chest. He put the sippie cup on the nightstand and turned the lamp off, leaving only the light from the movie playing on the laptop to fill the room. He rubbed his hand up and down against Jeremiah's back, and he found it oddly comforting to be able to help the little boy feel a little bit better.

It didn't take long for Jeremiah to fall asleep. His head was heavy on Andrew's chest and he kept his thumb into his mouth until his hand finally fell away.

After Vance had fallen asleep, Julian wokeup and climbed out of bed to go back into his own, but when he didn't find Miah in their room he went to look for his little brother. He checked Joshua and Andrew's room first, and when he saw Jeremiah curled up with the sorcerer he sleepily crawled up onto the bed as well to curl up with them, too.

When the door opened up, Andrew glanced over at it, expecting to see Joshua coming in but instead it was Julian. He didn't say anything as the little boy got into the bed as well, and laid down beside him and Miah. Toy Story seemed like a moot point since both of the little ones were fast asleep, but Andrew didn't mind it, and soon he started to doze off as well.

When he felt the bed shift, he turned his head to the side and opened his eyes up to see Joshua settling down beside them. It put Julian in between them, and Jeremiah was still situated on his chest.

"Hey..." he greeted sleepily with a yawn as he reached over to gently touch the side of Joshua's face. Normally he would have kissed the boy, but he couldn't really move on account of the little ones.

"How did this happen?" He laughed softly as he put his fingers through Julian's hair, combing through it with familiarity, letting him know on some level that he was here now.

When Joshua touched his hair, Julian rolled over to face his brother, and his thumb was still tucked away in mouth as he curled up against Joshua's chest.

"I don't know, really," Andrew replied as he reached over to push the top of the laptop down, closing it. "I went downstairs and Jeremiah was there, and he fell and hit his head, and he was crying so I brought him up here."

The smile on his face was infinitely soft. "That was nice of you. Maybe you're a natural after all," he laughed. He reached out to move Jeremiah's chin, angling his head so he could see the damage. He knew how to move his brothers and not wake them up. Years of practice hauling them around after they'd passed out, or getting them to a safer room if their mother came looking for them. "Ouch," he muttered when he saw the swell.

"Yeah," Andrew agreed quietly as he watched Joshua survey the damage. "I put some ice on it, but it's gonna bruise pretty good," he mumbled as he closed his eyes again. "I offered to heal it for him, but he said no. I'm not sure Hunter would like if I did something like that, anyway."

"You healing Jeremiah or not would be my decision. He's my brother." A flicker of possessiveness showed, but he stubbed it out quickly. "Well, I mean--I guess he's the alpha and all." He liked Hunter all right, but his wolf still had the incredible drive to test his boundaries and challenge the man. Getting to know Austin had helped that a little. But he figured it would always be something he struggled with; it was easier to control since he was younger.

Andrew arched a brow with a knowing smirk and he gently moved Jeremiah off of his chest to settled him down beside Julian. He rolled onto his side and reached over to brush Joshua's hair away from his face.

"You're a little alpha," he mused softly. "Do you think you'd want to be alpha of a pack one day?"

"Yes," he said with certainty. That's exactly what he wanted. "Maybe I could find those auctions and break wolves out of there." They were fairly rare, of course, but since he and his brothers had been in one he knew more had to exist. "But I'm not nearly strong enough yet." He spoke as if he'd been plotting this whole time. It was an urge to be in control and fortunately it was starting to take on a healthier bend so he ended up more like Hunter and less an alpha like Joseph had been. But there was always that possibility within him to take all his hurt and unleash it outward in a negative way.

Andrew traced the tip of his finger down along Joshua's nose, and then over the curve of his lips. He could sense that hunger for power within the other power, and he had every confidence that Joshua would use it in a good way.

"You will be," he said softly. And when Joshua was, Andrew could help him. They could save lots of people together, he was sure of it.

Because Andrew was the one telling him that, he was prone to believe it. If the sorcerer had faith in him, then he was sure he could achieve it. He rested his head on the pillow, utterly content with this sleeping arrangement.

"Do you think Jeremiah's going to be all right?" Andrew asked after a moment, and a slight frown had settled on his lips. "He was terrified that he was going to get hurt or in trouble for crying." It was heartbreaking, even to someone like Andrew who didn't normally feel all that empathetic.

"Mom used to get so upset when the little ones would cry. She was so stupid that she's beat the shit out of them, expecting that that would make them stop. Jeremiah got really good at holding back, but sometimes he couldn't and I couldn't piss her off enough to make her turn her attention to me." His voice went kind of monotone as he recounted his childhood. He tried to make it sound clinical, like it happened to someone else. ""He'll be okay I think, someday. I think that he's young enough where he can forget."

"I'm not sure if he really ever will," Andrew said quietly after a a moment as he looked down at Jeremiah. "Maybe, before, but then he was taken away and that's a whole lot of trauma on top of more trauma. I think maybe he'll start to feel more comfortable again, but it's going to take a while before he realizes that he's safe. He's trying not to get attached to anyone or anything, he's afraid that it'll be taken away or he'll be taken away."

Joshua frowned, hating deeply the feeling of being helpless to change something that he wanted to change. "He'll be fine," he said firmly with an edge of anger to it. He didn't like the things Andrew was saying to him. "And I don't know what I could do about it anyway. I'm trying."

"That's something," Andrew assured Joshua as his fingers swept up into the boy's hair and he met his eyes. "When he realizes that you're not giving up on him, that'll mean the world to him, even if he's too small to really grasp the concept. A lot of people just give up because it's too hard, but you won't. You're too stubborn," he said with a soft smile.

That seemed to please Joshua, or at least it seemed to quell any of the helpless anger he'd started to feel. "And when he realizes that no one here is going to hurt him just for the sheer pleasure of hurting him or because they don't know any other way to treat him," he amended.

He looked down at Jeremiah, still feeling worried about the littlest one.

Andrew lifted his head and leaned over to press a kiss to Joshua's mouth, unable to resist doing so for any longer. He let it linger for a moment, one of his hands brushing against the wolf's jaw before he pulled back got settled once again.

"It must be nice to have other people to help you out with them, people who care," he murmured quietly. "You were doing it for so long on your own."

The kiss calmed him down ever more, and he was always surprised how Andrew could do that too him. Part of him wondered if it was magical influence or if it was purely Andrew. Ultimately, he didn't think it mattered because magic was a part of Andrew.

"Sometimes I get jealous because for so long it was just me and now they love other people too. But I'm not a spoiled brat all of the time, so yes--I'm glad we found this place. I'm glad I found you to bring me here."

The words were kind, too kind, Andrew thought. He hadn't found Joshua, he'd taken him away. But maybe that was how things were meant to happen, because they seemed good now. Joshua and the boys had a home with others like themselves, something they may have never gotten otherwise.

Just then, Julian shifted and stretched an arm over his head as he sneezed not once, but twice. He opened his eyes sleepily, then closed them again before he sank back down more comfortably against the mattress to fall asleep.

"Does he have a cold?" Andrew asked, "Can you guys get colds? I didn't think you could."

"Blessyou," Joshua said with a fond sort of smirk as he felt the boy's forehead like a mother would check for a fever. He was a little warmer than usual, but not burning up. It made him frown a little though. "We can--well, at least I remember having them when I was younger. I haven't been sick for awhile now. Maybe it has something to do with my first shift. I can't remember dad getting sick." There was a lot he didn't know about himself and sometimes he wished he could just grow up as fast as he could and gain all the experience and strength that came with age. "Do you get sick?" He asked as the question occurred to him.

It was fascinating for Andrew to watch how automatic responses were for Joshua when it came to either one of his brothers. Andrew would have never thought to check for a fever, he would have just waited for a complaint and then he still wouldn't know what to do.

"Yes," he said, "But it's more difficult for us to get sick. Our blood is a little different, like yours is, but not as strong. And I'm impatient, I just use magic to make myself feel better if I get sick."

"Oh good, then if I ever get sick again I fully expect you to make me feel better--on so many levels." He couldn't help but add that sexual innuendo in there, even if his brothers were sleeping between them, especially since they weren't awake to hear it or understand it.

He rolled back onto his back, sighing as he snaked his hand underneath the two children, drawing them closer to him. He could be greedy with them, wanting all of their attention and affection even if it could be overwhelming sometimes.

Andrew let out a soft laugh as he scooted in closer to the boys and Joshua. Julian moved to crawl up onto Joshua's chest once his brother was laying on his back, and he curled up and put his thumb in his mouth out of habit. It gave Andrew room to scoot himself and Jeremiah even closer to Joshua, and he hooked an arm around all three of the boys.

"You're still mine, too, right?" Andrew asked quietly after a moment.

The question made Joshua smile. His eyes were shut but he could imagine the way Andrew's face looked. Even the tone of his voice was immensely pleasing. "Yes," he said plainly but firmly. "I'm still yours." He liked saying it out loud, and even though the alpha in him would balk at the idea of belonging to someone, it didn't mind nearly so much with Andrew.

Moving his feet a little, he was able to touch his toes to Andrew's ankle. "Always, okay?"

Andrew couldn't help but hook his ankle with Joshua's, and he smiled at the wolf's words. He hated how vulnerable Joshua could make him feel, but he wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

"Okay," he whispered back softly before he closed his eyes.
