Locating Greer had been easy since Niko had an open and active connection to him. He was keeping Greer dormant until he knew who he was, and from there he'd decide on if he'd let him wake up or not. He could sense other supernatural beings around the sorcerer, which only made him even more suspicious of the man.

Once they got to Cold Water, Niko found a quaint little bed and breakfast and rented a room for them. He pinpointed Greer from there, and though he insisted Bae and Miles stay behind, he had a feeling at least one of them had followed him - if not both.

He was standing outside of the mansion, peering up at it with a frown. He knew exactly what was inside. Vampires, and a lot of them. That worried him even more about why this sorcerer was looking for Bae. Was he selling lycanthropes to vampires? Or sex? Or both? There was only one way to find out, but he wasn't sure how he was going to go about getting into the house.

That's when Morris happened along, and Niko sensed him as soon as the man step foot out of his car. Turning, he stared over at Morris for a moment. It was obvious Cold Water was a hot bed for the supernatural. Still, Nikolai could tell Morris wasn't a powerful necromancer. Not yet, anyway.

	When Bae settled next to him, Mason missed the weight of him on top of him, but he turned on his side and reached for one of the other panther's hands so that they could lace their fingers up together. 	"Dead!?" Bae sat up. "What happened?" He knew that the world was full of danger, but he never really thought that one of them could have died. If Mason was with a pack that was somehow killed, he easily could have been killed as well. Just thinking about it was sending his heart racing. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"There was this one wolf who attacked the alpha of the pack and took over. I wasn't there, I was in Seattle. The alpha tutored me and then paid for me to get my GED and then he sent me to college. I'm really good with computers and coding, so I was learning that and living in a dorm room," he explained, "But the alpha was killed and the wolf that took over the pack wanted all non wolves out, so he started a war between pack members. I wasn't there, I heard about when it was too late for me to go help anyone." And he felt really guilty about that, he always would.

	Mason really didn't deserve to have suffered through more trauma, especially after things had sounded like they'd taken a turn for good. "College? It feels like we've been apart forever." Bae looked down at the way their hands were intertwined. "So much has happened to you." He wanted to get to know Mason all over again, with all of his experiences. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	"College, just for a year," Mason said softly, though he had a bank account with more than enough money to finish school with thanks to Kingston's father. "Even when things are happening to me, it feels like they are happening to someone else." Bae smiled a little and offered a shrug. It had always been a talent of his to detach. Mason had always had the touch to bring him back down to earth though and he felt grounded right now. It felt good not to be off in la-la land.

He didn't know when Miles and Nikolai were going to come back. He wanted Mason to know them like he knew them: kind, funny, cute together. "What was it like with the vampires? Did they drink from you?" Bae had been drunk from, though not very often. It was a rarity to find a vampire who would or could pay the prices his captors had charged for his blood.

	"Yes, but it wasn't so bad," Mason said with a mild roll of his shoulders as he closed his eyes and let his head tip forward so that he could rest his forehead against Bae's chest. 	"It was probably as good a place as any to stay. And I'm glad you found that sorcerer to help you. He's all right, isn't he? I can't imagine Nikolai leaving someone injured who didn't deserve it." 	"He's all right," Mason said as he opened his eyes, though his face was still pressed against the front of Bae's chest. He inhaled deeply, smiling at the familiar scent. "I missed you," he mumbled quietly, "So much. I almost feel like this isn't real," he added as he wrapped an arm around Bae's waist to hold onto him even more tightly. "Definitely real," he reaffirmed it himself because he had been thinking the same thing. If he woke up from a dream, he was going to be quite upset. But he was pretty sure that he couldn't smell anything in a dream and right now he was engulfed by Mason's scent.

After a second, he let his hand go down to Mason's neck and he was pleased to feel a chain there with the pendant he'd given him. "You still have it," he smiled.

	Mason finally pulled back enough so that he could look up at Bae's face, and he smiled softly with a little nod of his head. "Of course I do," he said softly, "It was the only piece I had of you. "You gave me plenty," Bae said quickly. He actually laughed a little. "Nikolai is very rich. We travel all over the country. It's strange not to be owned by anyone, though I suppose technically he does because he paid good money for me. But he buys me things, even when I don't ask for them." It felt good to be cared for.

Bae got up from the bed and went to the little fridge tucked neatly under a table, out of the way. "There's a Subway sandwich in here from lunch. Do you want it?"

It was nice to know that after all of this time, Bae wa finally being taken care of for one and not just used. He had people who genuinely cared for him. That was all Mason had ever wanted for the other panther.

Sitting up when Bae pulled away, Mason tried not to frown. He missed the other all ready, and they were still in the same room. At the mention of food, though, he perked up and nodded with a smile.

"You always share with me," he said happily. Some things never changed.

"I'm glad I have someone to share with again." It wasn't the same sharing with anyone else. Sure, he'd share a piece of pie with Miles, but it didn't feel like when he shared with Mason. Everything Bae had was Mason's; he would give him anything.

He pulled the sandwich out, meatball, and set it between them on the bed. It was Bae's favorite. He split it in half and offered the slightly larger part to Mason. "You've lost a little weight, I can tell." He didn't like that. They were both pretty lithe people, but Mason was even more slender than when he last saw him.

Mason smiled. It was nice to have someone to share things with again. And not just anyone, but Bae. He'd share whatever he had, too, even if it wasn't much at all. He knew Bae would always appreciate it.

Taking his half, he took a bite and chewed. It was good, but he liked to think it tasted so good because it was Bae's and they were sharing.

"It's been a rough few months," he said softly. And he probably hadn't been eating as well as he should have given the fact Bernie had been feeding from him sometimes. The others actually didn't like his blood much, the younger ones. They said it made their veins ache.

	Bae took a few bites of his half and then set the rest down in front of Mason. "We'll fatten you up in no time. I think that--if they want--we should stay with Miles and Nikolai for a little while." Raising his eyebrows in surprise, Bae tilted his head. "You have money left for school? You should use it for that. We can stay and you can finish your schooling up."

He ducked back into the fridge and got a bottle of water out, cold and crisp, and handed it to Mason. "Don't you want to finish school?" He didn't quite understand why he wasn't doing that right now--but he also didn't fully understand the kind of loss Mason had been through.

The very thought that one of them might have a chance at doing something normal like school was really important to Bae. It was an opportunity he never thought either one of them would ever have. 	"I would stay, we could stay." He didn't know about his rescuers, but if it meant Mason achieving his goals, he would stay without them if that was necessary. "Miles and Nikolai. I don't know if they would stay. Nikolai travels for his job but--maybe he could make this his home base." He wasn't sure that he had the courage to ask him to do that though. 	One of Mason's arms slipped around Bae's waist, and he pressed his face against the front of the other's neck, just beneath his chin. He let out a comfortable and happy sigh as he relaxed. "If they come back, will they just sleep in the bed with us?" he asked softly, because the bed was surprisingly huge. Mason hadn't ever seen a bed so big before. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
