The End of Everything
Damien Wilson watches as his technicians monitor the progress of the machine as it begins to power up. Jai West is performing without issue and Damien stands with his mother and sister,  watching as the clock approaches midnight. This project is the culmination of decades of work, going back to his grandfather's experiments. Ra's al Ghul had a sweeping vision, Damien agreed, but he allowed too many small details to remain to chance, such as his ongoing issues with Batman.

Bruce Wayne's death was an issue, but Terry McGinnis was going to be a problem, as would Wayne's daughters and other partners.  The Outsiders would come for him eventually, too. He had no doubt that he could stop them as they came, but an en masse attack would be harder to stop than a piecemeal one. Hence, tonight's experiment.

"Master, the Machine is ready for use. The Denver sub-station is also up and running. America should be protected from the experiment." Lloyd Simmons says.

"Excellent. And Mr. West's status? " Damien asks.

"He's performing optimally." Simmons says.

"Very well. Proceed." Damien says, looking over to the reddish-yellow blur inside the cylindrical machine beyond the glass. The power from Jai's exertions was captured and fed into the machine, allowing it to operate at such a high level. The young man was a generator of immense energy. If he survived this effort, Damien would use him again, or perhaps one of the other speedsters his people had been tracking.

"Morgaine, this year is nearly over. Do you have any resolutions, my sister?" Damien asks.

"Then must go to her, and soon," Morgaine said, Talia nodding her agreement. "Try to convince it is for the baby's sake, at least."

"You will have my skill, Damien," she said. "You know this."

She paused.

"I saw...I saw myself facing my father and Lady Shiva," she said, almost in a whisper. "But I do not know how it is possible...they are dead. I saw Lady Shiva's body after she was murdered...and I saw my father's when they brought him home..." She looked truly disturbed.

Damien looks at his sister in surprise.

"You...saw the dead as well? In my vision, Lian and I were about to reconcile when the sky turned dark. We looked out of the window of her apartment and the streets of Star City were filled with the dead in every direction as far as the eye could see.

They looked up at us and then they started to climb the walls and break down the doors to her building. They were coming for us." Damien says quietly.

"I have an idea. We might have been the only two to have these kinds of visions, Morgaine. We will find others who saw and learn what they know. If we are to see the dead again in the future, we will be prepared." Damien says, taking her hand.

Morgaine nodded. "Agreed, Damien. This way, we shall be prepared for when it happens."

There was a long pause.

"I was not alone, in my vision," she said. "Robert Queen was with me."

"You are certain, Morgaine?" Damien asks, pondering what this could mean. The implications were not reassuring, but now they had to decide on a course of action.

"Are you willing to let him live long enough to see if this vision comes to pass, Morgaine? There is a good chance that killing him may keep it from occurring. We cannot know until it occurs." he says.
