Tyler walks to the ground, drawing in a deep breath and looking at first his mother, then Cait to help center himself. He's practiced this a dozen times and still doesn't feel like its right.
"We've known for a long time, through invasion, and through contacts with the Justice League that it was possible to explore the far reaches of the galaxy, but the means to unlocking the key to true warp travel has eluded us. We have successfully completed the first tests, and after all that has come before, and with the help of the generosity of the donors and STAR shareholders present, and the work of a lot of good people, we believe that humanity is on the verge of true warp travel..."
He goes on to explain the potentials and pitfalls, and a simple, layman's version of the work he's headed up, and goes into thanking a few key people, but mostly appreciative of the support of his mother, who raised him as a single mom in trying times, and his girlfriend and her wonderful family.
Of course, when its over, he shakes the hands he has to, and disappears backstage for a while. Nerves and all. Public speaking is not his forte.
