All of a sudden, the tingling goes away. Calm sweeps through him. He pushes her behind him as chitinous armor spreads over his already super durable form, and waves of telekinestic foce sweep out from him, trying to slow the monster's approach.
"Don't look at it too closely." he tells her as he builds back up. "Mortals can't perceive his true form, it drives a lot of people mad... whatever you're doing, just keep it up... you may have just saved six billion lives."
