Death and Life, or, Henry's Healing Harem
Of course Black Hand would attack Coast City with his latest scheme for world-devastation when Dad and Carol were both out of the galaxy. Thankfully, he did have some backup -- his new Blue Lantern partner was pretty much the only thing keeping Henry alive right now.

Henry hopes that the Guardians can do something to help his arm. Black Hand managed to touch him, and his left arm feels like it's shriveling away, held in check only by his green charge. But it's not time to worry about saving his arm right now. He needs to take Black Hand down, and fast, before he kills any more people.

"Hey, Hand?" Henry snarls. Ava's been keeping him on the ropes for a bit while Henry catches his breath. Black Hand looks up at the Green Lantern. Henry's mind races to think up a pithy line he can deliver.

"Fuck off."

Oh, well. He'll be more pithy next time. He unleashes the full power of his green ring at Black Hand, knocking the zombie flat on his back. "Wrap him up, Ava," he tells his partner. "We need to get him to the Sciencells."

Henry wavers a moment... then collapses, the ring fighting to keep the infection from spreading up his arm. But something must be done, and quickly...

Coast City was a nice place as far as Josh Casey was concerned. He enjoys the sights of the city he was peeking around, just killing time until he figures out what to do with his day. The life of a homeless healer is a remarkably boring one. He tosses an empty can of soda into a garbage can and sighs. "I really should invest in a map or GPS or something," he says to no one in particular. Just as he turns to walk down the street, Josh is stopped by a sharp pain as his senses pick up on something. Death. The young healer shudders and scowls, looking around. In no time, he's off and following his superhuman sense.

Eventually, the blond reaches a crowd gathered and makes a face. If there's some kind of danger they should be somewhere else instead of right there in the line of fire as far as Josh is concerned. When he finally makes his way to the front of the crowd, Josh looks the scene over. Glowing blue guy, check. Creepy zombie guy that makes his head hurt, check. And then Josh sees the Green Lantern and the infection working it's way through his arm. The teen's eyes go wide and he glances around. No one's paying attention to him so he takes a bandana from his pocket and ties it into a makeshift mask. Once it's up, Josh pulls the hood on his sweatshirt up and starts moving. Police and their tape and barriers are ducked with uncanny agility as Josh runs forward, the strange young man not paying attention to any of their calls or warnings not to join in the fight.

Josh has no intention of joining in the fight if he doesn't have to though. His sights are set on the fallen Green Lantern and that's who he stops by. "Heya. Hold tight and let me handle that arm," he says as he kneels down. The blond holds his hands over the arm and white light begins to pour from his hands, Josh's power working to purge the infection and restore the fallen Lantern's health. "Don't know who that guy is but I can't stand him," he mutters, Black Hand's handiwork irritating the healer.

Things were going from bad to worst, and Avalon was running out of options. The good news was that Henry wasn't completely down and out - yet. Baring his teeth, the Nalorian spreads his wings wide and focuses another blast of blue light at Black Hand. Of course, all Black Hand does is laugh.

"Foolish little Blue Lantern." he growls out, and then focuses his attention directly upon Avalon.

Luckily for Avalon, but perhaps not for Black Hand, Avalon isn't your normal Blue Lantern. "All will be well" is indeed his motto, but unlike most of the other Blues, Avalon is a warrior.

"Shut up!" he snarls as he brings to bear a glowing blue sword of pure Hope to bear between himself and Black Hand. It's like an angel is battling the forces of evil, right there in Coast City.

Avalon swings his sword, sending off a powerful blast of concussive force that sends Black Hand back farther, driving him away from Avalon's fallen partner.

"Green, are ya still with me?" he calls out, glancing behind himself just in time to see a figure hovering over Henry's fallen form. Crap. Crap, crap, crap, crap, crap!

It seems that Avalon has picked up a bit more Earthling lingo than he though, without thinking he whirls, his expression the closest to murderous anyone might have ever seen on a Blue Lantern's face. He brings the sword up to bear, his eyes starting to glow blue fire as he says "Whoever you are, you've got two seconds to step away from my partner."

Henry blinks as he feels the energy pour into his arm, his muscle and flesh restoring under the newcomer's touch.

He sits back up, flexing his arm and fingers.

"It's cool, Blue," he says, holding up his hand to calm Avalon. "He helped." He glances back and sees Black Hand has fallen finally, then turns to the newcomer. "Wow. Thanks. Who are you?"

A couple cops move towards them, but Henry gestures, shooing them back for the moment.

Josh continues to pour on the healing power, focusing on the work he sees. He blinks a few times when he feels the alien lantern a little closer and glances up. "Uh...slice me up later, busy," he says, gesturing at the Lantern he heals.

When he finishes the healing and the Green Lantern calls off the Blue one, Josh lets out a breath. "It's what I do," he says with a chuckle. "No need to thank me," he says. "Er. Well I guess you could call me Lifeforce even if I don't really look all that superheroy," he answers awkwardly. He glances back when the cops move and then looks towards where Black Hand went. "Who's the guy in black?"

Frowning deeply, the Blue Lantern pulls his sword up a bit, and then looks towards the direction that Black Hand went. His Hope is still formed as a sword, though as the danger of the situation decreases, the less he realizes he still needs it. After all, Lifeforce helped Green.

"I think he's gone. For now." he then says, before he wills himself to the ground, his hackles still raised from battle. It shows in the way he stands, shoulders back, wings ready to leap into the air.

He eyes the other blond then, before finally letting a bit of his protectiveness melt away as he nods his head. "Thank you." Avalon then says, as he presses his wings to his spine, trying to show his respect for Josh with his body language.

	Josh nods and takes another breath when Avalon brings the info about Black Hand. "That's good. That guy was giving me a headache just by standing around," he admits. The healer then waves a hand slightly. "No problem, Blue Lantern guy," he says. "I'm happy to help." "Yep! Always had these weird powers of mine. I can heal myself too." Avalon crinkles his nose, and then nods towards Henry and Josh both. "This all sounds like information that is best discussed in a more private setting." he then says.

Silver wings spread wide, but instead of lifting up off the ground by their power, Avalon ascends in a glowing blue aura. "C'mon, Green." he then says, "I got Lifeforce. We can all talk a bit higher up.. where we can't be observed."

If Henry and Josh agree, Avalon points his blue ring at Josh, and uses the power from it to draw the boy up in to the air with him, surrounded by blue.

Josh blinks a few times. "Yeah. Middle of the street isn't the best place for this," he says. The teen jumps slightly when Avalon spreads his wings and then grins. "Dude. Those are awesome," he says, resisting the urge to try to touch one.

"Fly?" he just about squeaks. As the blue surrounds hims, the healer jumps. "Okay," he says, glancing about. "This is wild," he murmurs. Once they get high enough, Josh reaches back to untie the bandana. "Much better. Man, I gotta get a proper mask..." he trails off, apparently not bothered if the Lanterns see his face.

Up in the air, Avalon floats over to his partner and gives him a concerned look. Now that they weren't "on stage" he didn't worry quite so much about showing his hand. When Henry had gone down, Avalon's heart had been in his throat.

"You okay, Green?" he then asked in a soft tone, that hard and uncompromising edge gone. He seemed much more like a boy of about 17 and much less the hard-as-nails warrior that he was while battling Black Hand.

Looking to Josh, he then smiled and said "Yea.. from what I understand, keeping your secret identity is a good thing on this planet."

OOC: Sorry I went past - I just rolled with it. I'll be better with my tenses in my next post, I promise.

"Oh, so you're an alien?" Josh asks. "That makes sense. You're registering really different. I thought it was just the ring," he chuckles, gesturing to Avalon's ring. "Yeah. I just try to keep the ID going so I don't have people hassling me day in and day out to fix paper cuts and the sniffles for them," he sighs, shaking his head.

"Oh, don't worry. Even if your arm got like cut off, I could have reattached it. Or just grew you a new one," he says casually.

Avalon can't help but give Josh a weird look, and then tilts his head to the side. "Are you an alien too?" he then asks, before he grins widely at Josh and flutters his wings a bit in excitement.

"But yes. I'm from Nalor, in sector 5." he then says, before he slaps a hand over his mouth and looks to Henry with wide eyes. "Oh crap, I'm sorry Green. I probably said too much, huh?" he then asks while looking quite a bit sheepish.

"No, I'm human. I just don't spend much time with other people," Josh replies, sad smile there for a moment. He blinks as Avalon talks about where he's from and then chuckles. "I have no idea where that's from but it sounds nice," he says.

He can't help but feel a tiny bit jealous as the Green Lantern brings up a father but he's quick to push those feelings aside. "Yeah. It's a pain to do but I can do it if I have to," Joshua replies, blushing a bit from being called impressive. "It's nothing all that amazing. You guys do cooler stuff"

Avalon seems to settle when the Green Lantern reassures him, his lips spreading into a warm smile. He then turns his attention to the conversation between Henry and Josh, just listening for a bit. He does better to listen when unsure, and right now, he was fairly unsure. Best to let Henry speak for them both.

"Invaluble doesn't even start to describe it." he then chimes in, eyes wide. "I can heal - to an extent - but to have someone as skilled as you would be really.. uhm.. what's the word?" he then looked to Henry, eyebrows up before he then said "Oh yea! Radical!"

Josh takes a deep breath and then looks up.

"My parents. They were very bad people. My mother was a member of an insane cult in Keystone City...she killed a lot of people. And my father..." he frowns and looks away. "he led it. My father calls himself Cicada and he's responsible for so much death...so much pain..." he closes his eyes a moment. "He's in prison right now. On death row. I'm doing everything I can to try to make up for what they've done."
