He gets slammed back by the shockwaves, tumbling head over heels. He's about to respond, when the 'sweet little thing' is mentioned. He's about to go after Kid Amazo, when he hears Ruth's encouragement, and re-centers himself, reminding himself not to fall into that trap, don't let this mockery dictate the battle.
He manifests a trident instead, summoning up a vortex of water, sending tendrils launching at Kid Amazo, trying to pen him in to limit the use of super speed.
