Damien grins at the sight of the King of Atlantis. He bore the man no ill-will - but this would be a defeat for the Atlanteans of a scale his father had never accomplished - starting with a fall of their king. And, of course, he couldn't allow Arthur to defeat Devil Ray - the Atlanteans would see their king fall before he ever reached that point.
He times Arthur's run, then draws the thunderbolt, launching a blast of Zeus' full power at the King of Atlantis. As soon as its away, he's already moving. Damien's role in this fight is not to be a front line fighter, or even do much - other than keep from being discovered. But even the one shot could have a large effect on the overall battle.
