"You should. You're beautiful, and a lot of fun." And he really wants to make things work with his girlfriend, but so far, she hasn't seemed to object to any of this - and last he heard, was conspiring something to make his life more interesting with Maria. So he figures some snuggling for feel-better purposes and compliments are safe enough.
And this is pleasant, even if he wishes she was feeling better. "You're welcome. I'm enjoying it."
