Well, this is new.
Heather absently flipped through the channels, and every time it hit on the news, it was about them. Footage of them in action at the fire and after, her--what had she been thinking--sudden naming of them, after Cindy had supplied their group name...

Heather had never really been used to people paying attention to her, especially not like this.

Somehow, fan sites had already gone up on the internet. Most of it was clean, fortunately, but some of it... well, she was going to need brain bleach to unsee some of that.

"So..." she said, mostly to herself, but anyone within earshot would hear. "Now what?"

"Lord prerogative. However, let's be grammatically correct. I said I don't have the right to force you to be here. Can't refers to physical ability, which I have. Right now though, I'm asking you to talk out precisely what your problem is so we find the best way to keep you in touch without your doing what you don't have to. If medical care is your schtick, there's plenty of opportunity for that in emergency intervention. Hence my previous question."

"Fine, my problems are, multiple, is that one: i was studying to be a doctor when that damn accident took my legs. When I tried to apply, the man said patients would be uneasy being treated by a cripple! Not his words but it's what he meant. Two: I suyddenly get possessed by this blue bird-thing, without any kind of consent, who magically allows me to finally walk, but apparently only when it serves her hopeful purposes!" He takes a deep breath. "Three I'm minding my own damn business, trying to live what's left of my life and some cosmic psycho kidnaps me and says he's going to kill me. Four: I get dragged into this inane idea of suddenly being a superhero in a group of people, save you, who have no clue how to even begin to be superheros! Five: My personal life? Shot clear out the window, just like poor Jess and Heather, but unlike them, I don't want to be a hero! I hate violence! Six:..I liked Jess. hell, I had finally gotten the guts to ask her out, but suddenly out of the damn blue, she's chummy with Harry! And Seven: You and..nevermind."

	Good. He's letting it out. This is working perfectly, and she knows how to address a lot of these issues. The part about Jess sucks, and she doesn't blame him a bit, and ... wait, what? He takes a strained breath through his nose, clearly uncomfortable saying this. "I grew up in a conservative home with conservative parents. I'm not a Bible-thumper or some nut yelling that something's a sin. I support gay rights. I think they should be able to get married, but.." another deep breath. "Seeing you and Saishu makes me really..uncomfortable. Not your fault, but there it is."

	Cindy just... blinks. "I'm... sorry you feel that way." It's actually harder to deal with than the more vicious variety of homophobia. Cindy was good at sneering back, but just... making someone's skin crawl when they know it shouldn't was...disconcerting. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"... Let's get back to items one through six. And how sticking together for mutual self-defense doesn't mean making you get violent. And that you should always get a second opinion, especially when the guy who told you you couldn't get medical training can shove it."

Pause. "Also... all I can say is sympathies on the Jess thing. I've been there, and I know all the cheer-up stuff would just sound stupid." Yes, she realizes the irony.
