Also after the party
Josh enjoyed the party. He really did even if it was mood whiplash all night. But now...now he just can't take it anymore.

Katima and Henry...the sounds they make...the way it all feels to his extra sense.

Josh can only sit in his room depressed and blushing for so long. He reaches his breaking point and goes off in search of Avalon.

"Ava?" he asks, following his senses outside to the winged Lantern.

Avalon beams a smile to Josh, brightening quite visibly. He then looks towards his hands a bit shyly, ocean colored eyes peeking at Josh through the fringe of his lashes.

"You didn't hurt me, Josh. Right now, you're about the only thing keeping me sane." he then says. Sighing, he bites at his bottom and then says softly "You have been the most wonderful surprise, since I came to Earth. Without you, I'd be sitting alone most days.. and nights.."

Josh ends up blushing even worse, a smile forming on his face. "You're wonderful too, Ava," he says.

"I think that you worry too much, sometimes." replies Avalon, as he settles in against Josh, and turns his face towards the stars.

"I don't understand Earth, but I'm starting to think that no one here understands things either. It's not my place to pass judgment on anyone, but I don't think what is going on around this house is correct on any level. I'm glad that I'm not the only one though.. I thought I was just not understanding what was going on around me."

He then frowns, "My translator has been malfunctioning. I think that the usage of some words conflicts with what I know them to mean."

"Maybe..." Josh says in that same quiet tone. "But I can't help it."

He listens quietly and shakes his head. "I don't think it's malfunctioning. Just...some misscommunication," he says. "But yeah...there is some messed up stuff going on..."

"Humans use words differently." replies Avalon. "They also see things differently. I've noticed that humans put a lot of distinction on fidelity between two people."

Avalon looks to Josh then, his expression confused as he asks "Do humans not feel love for more than one person? I.. never heard of that quirk, but I know that some races do bond in such a way that they only have eyes for one other.. but.. Henry certainly isn't like that, so it confuses me."

Josh takes a deep breath. He lets the thoughts roll around in his head before responding.

"Humans are...a strange and varried bunch," he replies. "It's different for each person. Some only love one other person and some many," he closes his eyes.

"I don't think what Henry's been doing has anything to do with love. That's more lust driven..."

"After the first couple weeks, I started ignoring my empathy when around him as much as I could.. It's disconcerting to be around someone who's emotions stay pretty much in one place." replies Avalon in a sad tone. "I feel bad for Katima though. I think that Henry has been preying on her innocence a bit."

He draws in a deep breath and then sighs it out as he closes his eyes and snuggles up to Josh's side a bit closer. It feels good to have contact with someone, especially when that someone was Josh. Avalon likes Josh quite a lot more than just a little. That fondness has been growing by day, though he still feels too self conscious to even mention it.

"One place?" Josh asks softly. "Yeah...Katima..." he sighs. "I honestly don't know much about her or how the Indigo Lanterns work but I get the feeling the same things that happened to us are about to happen to her," he murmurs.

He holds Avalon close and closes his eyes. He rather likes Ava as well, the attraction growing the more time he spent around him. "I don't even think Henry realizes what he's doing to all of us...and its sad..."

Avalon gives a huff, and he shakes his head a bit to Josh. "He has no clue, no concept. And its becoming harder and harder for me to.. to forgive him."

He glances up to Josh, a smile flashing across his face. "Indigo Lanterns are based on Compassion. Katima is an agent of that, and is a lovely person. When she's not... doing things with Henry.. maybe you should try to talk to her?"

Josh frowns at Ava's huff but keeps quiet. As much as he wants to not forgive Henry, Josh just can't. He's just that way.

"I tried during the party...but Petra and Keith sort of distracted her with a little game," he says with a small smile. "I think I will."

"I didn't play any games, bbut then again I got overwhelmed and ducked out early." Replies Ava. He sighs then and finds himself turning his face in towards Josh, his open empathy causing his cheeks to warm. Even outside, he was having a hard time not being affected by the mass amounts of emotions that were pouring out of the house.

"I'm glad that you will try. Katima is a sweetheart." Avalon then whispers before he turns his face to the stars again. "But I am getting tired of hearing her screams. What would you think about seeing Space, Josh?"

Josh shakes his head. "It wasn't a game you'd wanna play. Trust me," he sighs. "I'm sorry you left. Lots of people wanted to meet you. Nice ones like Jon, Corrina, and AJ. AJ's gonna teach me how to swim," he remarks, blushing furiously for a moment out of embarrassment.

"She did seem nice," he agrees. "Try feeling every tiny little thing happening in both their bodies while hearing the screams," he murmurs, rubbing his forehead a moment. "Sp-space? Sure...I just can't get up there..."

"I can get you there." replies Avalon with a smile. With a bit of regret, he pulls himself away from Josh, and then spreads his wings wide and takes the other boy's hand.

"The joys of being a Lantern - you can protect yourself and others from the vacuum of space." he says with a small smirk. A blue glow comes to envelop them both, and without little more effort, both boys began to rise into the night sky.

Once they got a bit higher in the air, Avalon pulled himself back up to Josh's side, his tone almost a whine as he says softly "Then it's not just me. It's torture whenever he brings someone home. He thinks that he's being subtle, but he's not.. I still sense it all, although not as deeply as you do it seems."

Josh blinks and then blushes again. "Oh yeah...I forgot about that," he says. The teen squeezes Avalon's hand and nods as they go up.

"Torture sounds right," he murmurs in reply. "We just sense it differently. You sense the emotions. I feel their bodies...their lives...and I can't block it out," he closes his eyes tightly.

"Well, one of two things will happen." states Avalon. "Either you will be given some relief by being taken away from your torture.. or you will be overwhelmed with your senses. Either way, I think that it will be better than what you are feeling now."

He grins a bit and gives Josh's hand a squeeze of support, and then can't help but let loose a soft, happy laugh. The only thing that Avalon loves more than flying is Space.. and it thrills him to show Josh his own planet for the first time.

They pull up through the clouds and pass the point where the atmosphere fades away.. Within a few moments, the boys come to hover out above the planet, the big ball of blue and green dominating their view.

Josh swallows nervously and nods. The laugh from Ava does make him smile and he squeezes the alien lantern's hand again.

As they get farther and farther from the ground, Joshua pulls himself closer to Ava. And when they finally got out to see the planet itself, Josh went quiet. "My god..." he trails off, in awe at the sight. The planet is a beautiful and amazing sight but Josh's other sense comes into play as well. He can't quite feel anything specific other than Avalon but all those whispers and fleeting blinks of life signals have Josh starting to panic a little. Seems Ava was right about it being overwhelming.

Luckily for Josh, he has an empath with him. The more Josh seeks to press himself to Avalon's side, the more the Nalorian welcome him, an arm sliding around Josh's middle, while those silver wings of his close around the other boy once more in a gesture of comfort.

Or maybe more.

Avalon can feel the conflicting emotions in Josh, and already he is just as on edge as his Earthling friend. Being subjected to so many emotions thanks to Henry and Katima, and then having them echoed by poor Josh is just as hard on Avalon as it was for Josh. They have a feedback loop of sorts going, one that seems like there is little escape from.

Then Avalon has an idea. He draws in a deep breath, his voice low in their shared space as he murmurs "Josh.. several days ago, you asked me if I knew if I wanted you for you.. or just because I was hurt by Henry. May I make a confession?"

Josh tears his eyes away from Earth and hides his face against Avalon's shoulder. "Oh man...oh man..." he whispers, trying to focus entirely on Avalon's life signal and the unusual feeling of that blue ring of his.

He jumps slightly when Ava speaks and pulls back enough to look him in the eye. "Y-yes...what is it?"

Avalon just smiles, his expression serene as he lifts both hands and frames Josh's face with long fingers.

"When I came to Earth, I knew that I would give my heart to my partner and that there would be another Lantern. My mother told me this. But she did not tell me about you, and she did not even hint that by coming to Earth, I would find someone so.. surprising. So sensitive."

His smile grows now, and Avalon flushes though he forces himself to continue to look into Josh's eyes. "I have been afraid, because I am unsure if you felt this as well. I've slowly been coming to realize that perhaps you do; I try my best to not pry with my ability. You've quickly come to be the brightest spot in my quickly darkening world.. I feel so alone, even when I'm down there with everyone else.. But when you're near, that feeling goes away."

Josh listens closely, eyes going wide. He's surprised but a happiness rises in him. He blushes as well, just taking it all in.

When Ava finishes speaking, Josh leans in to kiss him softly. "Oh man...Ava," he begins. "Just wow...I do...I do feel that way, Ava," he says, smiling. The healer just watches Ava for a moment before leaning in to kiss him again.

The first kiss surprises Avalon, and he blinks owlishly at Josh as he speaks, not quite sure what to make of all of it. When Josh's first words stammer, he feels his heart in his throat, sure that the words that would come next would be a rejection.

When the rejection doesn't come, Avalon finds himself pressing up to Josh's chest, and his eyes drifting closed as their lips meet.

Josh keeps the kiss going for a few moments but eventually pulls back to just look at Ava.

"I'm really not sure what to say here..." he trails off with a little smile.

Avalon just gives a little laugh, his expression playful and almost mischievous as he says "Then don't say anything."

It's easy to let the silence ring out between them for Avalon, he is fully comfortable in Josh's company, and it's quite easy to wrap himself around the taller boy more tightly and nuzzle his face into the crook of Josh's throat.

Josh blinks and then chuckles a little. "Alright...quiet's good too," he says.

He holds Ava close, eyes sliding closed. Sure he's blushing but he's happy. The healer reaches up to gently stroke Ava's hair as an idle thought.

The contact makes Avalon shudder a bit, and he burrows in as tightly as he can and tries to keep his skin from crawling. Being this far away from everyone else, with only Josh to read with his Empathy makes for an interesting interaction between their powers. Funny how those things work.

"All will be well, Josh." he finds himself murmuring, though his voice doesn't sound all that steady. In fact, it sounds breathy and caught up in his throat and Avalon has to remind himself to breathe. This is all very new for him, and especially so right now without any of his usual filters up to protect himself.
