Jess is trying to enjoy herself. The whole thing is just weird as hell for her. People are acting like they're heroes. Sure they did the right thing but cops or firemen would've done the same thing.
That's what she tells some high up cop she ran into. She also got quite a few compliments on her
dress.
And she noticed that she totally had a shadow this whole time.
