Lian kneels on the edge of the platform, peering into the darkness next to Jeannie. Holding her hand and continuing to do so was the only way to get Jeannie out, but Lian barely notices as she adjusts the view through her mask's lenses.
"Oh, God," Lian whispers as soon as they get close enough to pick out human-sized shapes. There's an inert shape in the fire that's way too easy to identify, and Lian can identify at least two more that look too mangled to be alive.
"Get us down there," Lian says, trying to turn off her churning stomach as she starts pulling first-aid supplies from her utility belt.
