Island Life
The island was nice enough, a tropical climate. Ganthet had brought them to the beach there, and began his instruction.

"Consider, if you will, the different emotional entities, how they are paired, and from where they arise," Ganthet began.

"Rage and Love, for example, are emotions that are directed towards something. You feel love for your companion, or rage at those who have wronged you. They sit the farthest from the center of Will that is at the core of the Emotional Spectrum, because they are emotions of passion, here in one moment, gone in the next, difficult to sustain and yet able to consume one if left to flicker and burn for too long by themselves.

"Greed and Compassion, move closer to the center, and act as more intrinsic emotions. Greed is a desire for more, never satisfied with what you have, always seeking to possess and control more. Compassion is the empathy for the suffering of others, the understanding of other viewpoints and situations, feeling for them and seeking to mend them. These emotions exist more solidly, more states of being that flare-ups of passion.

"Fear and Hope just left and right of center, are different in that while those are emotions that may be felt, as the Emotional Spectrum understands them, they are emotions that can be caused in others. The Fears that claw at us in the dark, the Hope that tomorrow will be better. Those who wield the Lights of Fear and Hope are beacons of these emotions, fanning the flames of those emotions around them. They know them, and how to wield them to best effect.

"Willpower stands at the center, and stands alone. It is the ability to overcome fear, to turn hope into action. It is the ability to fight to make compassion a reality and to resist greed's temptations. It is the ability to temper the fires of rage and the passions of love with the need for clarity and reality. Though my brothers are wrong in ignoring the other Lights, they were correct when we believed that the Light of Willpower has the potential to be the strongest of them all."

He looked them over. "To know your Light is to know yourself. Think, and search within you. What about you drew your Light to you?"

	Once they were airborne, a patrol of Effigies came their way. They started firing blasts of flame in the direction of the women. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	To her credit, Heather reacted quickly, throwing up crystal shields to block the flame blasts, shields she let drop after their job was done. She kept it up, trying to divert the Effigies with what barricades she could create. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	The Effigies are decidedly focused on Saishu, one hurling bolts of flame her way, while another forms a semi-solid hand of flame, reaching out to grab her. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

The cosmic nature of the flame helps it somewhat, keeping her from being entirely immune - but there's a reason she wanted to draw the focus and let Heather defend. She's largely immune to fire, wading through the initial blast. The hand grabs her out of the air, and for a moment seems as if it might hold, before she pushes back hard, breaking its grip to try and engage its creator up close and personal.

	Heather focused, forming crystal barriers and shields to direct the Effigies and help Saishu. Even from this distance, she could feel some of the heat of the blasts. Her sense of touch was still greatly diminished--how hot must they have been? Dammit. Why was everyone trying to kill them? (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	People trying to kill her, finally! So much better when they're direct, instead of just waiting. She charges her blades, swinging her main sword to parry the flaming blade, while thrusting her longknife towards the effigy's stomach. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Okay, yeah. Saishu was pretty dang scary when she was going into full Amazon battle mode. Heather wondered how much of that was due to the Butcher in her head and how much of it was just natural. She barred the way of the other two Effigies for a moment, a tall wall of crystal in their way. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Saishu grits her teeth, taking the blast. Her hair is sort of on fire now, and her skin darkening just a bit - and she uses what pain there is to drive her to twist the blade then tear upward.

"Shift walls, channel to me!" she calls, savoring the chance to test herself against whatever these are. Some of it may be the Butcher - but she doesn't hate these guys all that much. Most of it is just what drew the Butcher in the first place.

	Heather concentrated again, shifting parts of the walls, weaving new crystal where she needed to, forcing the other too Effigies toward Saishu. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Saishu gets an arm up, taking a slash from the sword into her forearm - bad, but her invulnerability keeps it from being as bad as it looked like it might have been - while lunging into the mace blow, taking a smashing shot to the shoulder to guarantee her opponent is open when she drives her dagger upward towards its gut and under the ribcage.

A little blood, more pain - now she's getting angry. Much better.

	Heather can't still isn't used to some of Saishu's savagery... but she's still somewhat in awe of the other woman's fighting prowess. While Saishu deals with the one with the mace, she's got an opening on the other one, encasing them up to the neck in crystal. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Bruised and cut, Saishu looks in excellent spirits as she puts a boot to the head of the one encased to make sure he's out. "Now we find more, keep others safe too." She pauses, looking herself over briefly. "Cut on arm. Encase in crystal to slow bleeding for now?" (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	All right. She could do this. She'd picked up on love signals from people before. She should be able to use them to track from one to the next if she concentrated. It was something like a violet-pink ribbon, leading off from Saishu and into the air. "Got it. Follow me." She took off into the air. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
