Cait had a million and one things to do and many places where she could help, but there was one place she had to check on. She was tired and exhausted from helping with the storm cleanup, but she had to do this. The old cottage and lighthouse housed many memories, all good, for her and she had to make sure the storm didn't do too much damage.

The coast of Maine had been battered and Cait had worried about the structures. Now that she had a few free moments she could check on them. The damage wasn't too bad, but there was some. A few shutters had come off of the house and one of the glass panes in the lighthouse was shattered. A few tiles had come off each roof. It wasn't beyond repair, but Cait wished she could spend more time here and do better upkeep.

She had thought about renting the place out a few times and find someone to keep the light, but it was hard picturing anyone else here. This had been her grandfather's house and she had lived here for four years with him. Cait had loved the cozy little cottage and she had loved climbing all the steps with her grandfather. The nearby town was small, about a thousand residents, and Cait had come to know them. To them she was Cait, Tom's granddaughter, and not an Atlantean princess or anyone special. She was just Cait and they had accepted her as one of their own.

She picked up a broken shutter and carried it toward the cottage as gulls cried overhead.
