The Professor would raise the IQ level here
This is one of those problems when part of your rogue's gallery includes Atlantean villains. The transport is wrecked, the water isn't safe - but there's no threat as long as the girls stay on the island til reinforcements arrive. Unfortunately, that could be a while.

Pippi was wet and bedraggled when she managed to crawl up on shore. She's already working to get herself back into fashionable order.

"Ok, Cait." She says, very seriously. "We're stuck on an island, maybe for a long time. So there's some very important considerations we need to figure out. So, first things... I'm Maryanne, you're Ginger."

Cait pulled the water out of Pippi's hair and clothes for her. She left it on herself.

She knew she was going to regret asking, but she had to. "Who's Ginger and Maryanne?"

Pippi looks at Cait like she's crazy. "Its from the television show about people on an island. And every week, they almost escape, but the mean man hits the poor little guy so much that he's all nervous and stuff so he messes up how they'd escape. But there's no mean guy here, so we're fine. But you still need to figure out who is Ginger and who is Maryanne in these situations."

Cait totally thought Pippi was the crazy one. "I don...sure. You can be whichever one you want and I'll be the other." Sometimes just going along was much easier.

"Oh good, because you're a lot like Ginger. Really beautiful and you're a princess, while she was just a movie star. I mean, those things are close, but Princess is a little better. She dressed to complement her figure more than you do though, so you should work on that. Ok, so now that that's out of the way, we should start building new homes. Do you think huts or a treehouse with bridges and a pulley elevator is better?"

"Pippi, we're not going to be here long enough to need homes. The Titans will come for us. Ty will come for us."

"Oh sure. That's what everyone says. But then mean people start hitting people with hats and things don't go right. And I don't think we have a volleyball. So houses is definitely first thing. Its what they always do first in these situations."

"Okay, neither of us has a hat to hit someone with so I don't think we have to worry about that." Though Cait wasn't sure where in Hades that came from. She didn't know what a volleyball had to do with it either. "The Titans will find us. I know Ty will find us. Let's just have a seat and wait."

"Hmm, I guess the Titans are pretty good at these things. Ok. Help me build a sand castle?"

"They are," she said. "Sure. Sandcastles it is." It could be worse. A lot worse.

"Wonderful!" Pippi exclaims, starting in on the building. "But, Cait... you know, uhm, just in case, let me know if you see any volleyballs."

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]young_swimmer

Oh she was going to regret this. "What do volleyballs have to do with anything?"

"They're very important, in case one of us leaves and the other doesn't, so we have someone to talk to. Like that guy who got stranded on an island. Geez, Cait... I would have thought Atlanteans would know more about islands."

"Is this another television show?"

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]bobblehead
2013-01-29 11:27 pm UTC (link)
"No, of course not. The TV stuff is helpful, but this one was really important. Its one of those, what do you call them... docu-something movies about how to survive on a desert island and how important it is that mail gets delivered."

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]young_swimmer
2013-01-29 11:36 pm UTC (link)
"You mean a documentary? Or was this just a movie?" Cait asked. She could feel herself getting in deeper. Which was mostly the case with Pippi. Was she imagining it, or was she getting a headache?

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]bobblehead
2013-01-29 11:40 pm UTC (link)
"That's the one, yeah! You know, the kind of movies where they don't really have an important story to tell and are kind of boring, but you watch it because it teaches you really important things? And this was a really, super long one, because when he started, the guy didn't have a beard, but by the time they were done filming and let him go, he was all beardy before they let him deliver the mail."

This was where Cait just had to nod and let it go. Otherwise she would get a headache and keep digging herself in a hole.

"We won't be here that long."

"Well, that's good anyway. How long do you think we'll be here?"

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]young_swimmer

"Maybe a few hours," Cait said. "Not much longer than that."

"Oh, that's not too bad then. We'll have plenty of time to decorate the castle."

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]young_swimmer
2013-01-30 12:52 am UTC (link)
"Yes, we do," Cait said with a smile. "What do you want it to look like?"

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]bobblehead
2013-01-30 12:55 am UTC (link)
"Well, we could make it really tall and thin, and decorate it with seashells and things. I don't think we have the stuff to be all perfect, but maybe we can get it close enough to remind you of home. Like in the Little Mermaid."

"One day, Pippi, I'll take you to Atlantis and you can see what it really looks like. It doesn't look anything like /that/ movie." Cait did her best to keep control of her temper.

[info]young_swimmer

Cait didn't know if bringing Pippi to Atlantis was a good idea or not, but Arthur would be in a good mood with her around. Cait was going to count that one was a win.

"Atlantis probably isn't the best place for him. Cats don't like water."

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]bobblehead
2013-01-30 05:38 pm UTC (link)
"Exactly." Apparently Pippi at least knew that much. "I'd love to come see it, and maybe King Arthur will let me stay in the castle. And when you're there at home, I can help you get all princessy! It'd be so much fun!"

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]young_swimmer
2013-01-30 05:57 pm UTC (link)
"Yeah, sure. Sounds great, Pippi," Cait said. This had to get her some good karma, right?

"So your sandcastle, I don't know if we can make it look like Atlantis, but we can try."

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]bobblehead
2013-01-30 06:05 pm UTC (link)
"Ooohhh! Really?! I'll go get anything you need for it, if you can show me what Atlantis looks like! Seashells, rocks, driftwood, sticks. What do you need?"

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]young_swimmer
2013-01-30 07:30 pm UTC (link)
"I don't need that stuff," Cait said. While she couldn't swim in the water, she could certainly use it to show Pippi what Atlantis looked like.

She pulled a good amount of water out of the ocean and started forming the buildings of her home city.

Cait finished forming the buildings in the city and turned it to ice. "Now let's get started on those sandcastles."

[info]bobblehead

Pippi spends a while just marveling at the ice sculpture. "So this is really what Atlantis looks like?"

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]young_swimmer
2013-01-31 12:30 am UTC (link)
"Yeah," Cait answered. "Just on a smaller scale." She did miss Atlantis at times. It would always be home no matter how long she was on the surface.

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]bobblehead
2013-01-31 12:31 am UTC (link)
"Well, of course. Because if it was really this size, the Sea Witch would destroy it really fast." Pippi replies, moving to help with the sand castle.

Cait sighed and just let it go. She was not going to get into an argument with Pippi. It was a losing battle.

Cait pulled more water out of the ocean to use for helping to build the sandcastle.

Pippi cheerfully helps with the castle building. "So, which of those towers is your bedroom in?"

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]young_swimmer
2013-01-31 12:53 am UTC (link)
"This one," Cait said as she pointed to a spot on the royal palace. "It does have a nice view of the gardens."

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]bobblehead
2013-01-31 12:59 am UTC (link)
"That's not too bad. But why wasn't it up here in this tower? That looks more like a princessy bedroom."

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]young_swimmer
2013-01-31 01:11 am UTC (link)
"Because that's where Arthur's bedroom is," Cait said.

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]bobblehead
2013-01-31 01:13 am UTC (link)
"Well, that's silly. Why is he in the princessy bedroom? I know he likes unicorns and fluffy kittens, but people probably have a hard time taking him seriously that way."

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]young_swimmer
2013-01-31 01:24 am UTC (link)
"Because that's the highest tower and he is the king," she said. "He gets the best bedroom."

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]bobblehead
2013-01-31 01:25 am UTC (link)
"That's a really long way from the throne room though, so he has a long walk to go and sit and brood and be kingly. Everyone knows the pink, sparkly bedroom is up here."

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]young_swimmer
2013-01-31 01:40 am UTC (link)
"It isn't pink and sparkly," Cait assured Pippi. "He's the king. He gets the best bedroom."

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]bobblehead
2013-01-31 02:00 am UTC (link)
"Wow... ok. Your dad is awfully nice, but he sure doesn't understand very much about Kings and Princesses." No wonder Cait didn't like her dad. He stole her bedroom.

Pippi nods solemnly, trying to quietly offer Cait moral support while they build sand castles. She understands.

Cait just focused on the sandcastle. It was much better that way.
