I think you're awesome... just don't tell anyone.
Time for another secret meeting of the cousins braintrust. Its just a little different this time.

For one thing, Mikal is there early, instead of the typical five to ten minutes late. He needed to be early, he had some things to get ready. Her favorite soda was easy - different, because usually when he sneaks the drinks in, its either usually his dad's beer, or his favorites. This time, all hers. The cookies were harder. He burnt all three of his attempts, so he finally just broke down and bought three batches, once again, of her favorites.

Janie, as always, is right on time. Which is usually pointless with Mikal, but it's the principle of the thing. So she's surprised to see him there early...with her preferred drinks not his. And...cookies.

"...Something I should know?" Bit of a toss up what this was about. He could just be being nice, he was capable of that of course and despite how they acted in public she did actually believe that of him. But there was always the possibility he needed a hand with something and these were tasty bribes. One should be sure which it was before digging in.

"Only that I reviewed your journal entries for that last case... ok, so I may have borrowed your case files, but you weren't around to ask... but, anyway... that last case was really impressive. I was even able to use a couple of your cues and techniques to help with a Star City case I was working on.

So, I wanted to get the case files back to you without breaking in again, and let you know that, despite the stick up your ass, you're pretty awesome. I'd have gotten a card, but we'd just have to burn it."

She frowns at him initially, taking a mental note to improve the security for her journal entries. It was good enough to keep the others off but Mikal knew her better than any of them by far so that security breach needed to be fixed. On the other hand...well at least they'd been helpful, though really he could've asked even if it might not be his usual style. "...Okay, you're in the clear due to reasons of cookies, soda and being sincere. You're not so bad yourself, and cookies? Totally beat a card."

She took a cookie, hopped onto a seat and smiled. "Though you know you could totally just text or something next time, I'd have given them to you and then pretended it was done grudgingly if anyone asked."

"Yes, but they said you were out on a mission, and we were on a timer. Trying to find a bomb. That, and I had to see if I could guess your password. Admittedly, it took me seven tries. You're getting better. I figured the cookies might help earn forgiveness. I, uhm, might not have remembered which were your favorites, but I saw your sweets-stash. I won't tell anyone. Far as anyone else is concerned, you function strictly on the FDA's recommended allowance of daily nutrients and plenty of vegetables."

"Next time it'll take you even more tries," she assured him. "And cookies obviously work for forgiveness one incident at a time, no blanket ones. But deal, you keep it a secret and maybe I'll share some with you, and of course not tell anyone you actually respected someone's rules and came for forgiveness instead of skipping all that and brushing it off. We do have reputations to keep up after all."

	She still offers him a cookie anyway, it was polite and he'd been sweet in setting this up. "So, while we have our 'truces' as most people suspect they are, catching up time? And then I pretend I heard most of it by being sneaky and spying on you. Really, I only get some of my info that way," she teased him with a poke and took another cookie for herself. But anyway, we've had some signs the league of assassins is operative and poking around again, but nothing solid. Also a bomber. No big name, but some sort of hatred for Star City's government." She rolls her eyes but smiles. "He's giving me a run for my money. How am I gonna keep the serious rep if he's beating me at it?" More cookies now, these were good, he'd picked well.

"Other than that reckless and self centered arrow kid, who's going to be a full time job just to reign in, I think it's solid and diverse power-wise. Clara seems sweet, naive in an interesting way but very different sort of way from the martian girl. That's a confusing sort of naive, it's hard to know what to make of it. I know Clark, he's a good guy even if he's worse than you about charging into things. Seriously, right at Aunt Diana! And Jerry has good power control from what I saw, and a great getaway power to say the least."

She wags a cookie at him with a 'don't try and pull that over me' look. "And duh you want to work with Tula. You guys don't hide things well gotta say."

"I'm so glad to have such a selfless cousin," she says, rolling her eyes but still with a slight smile. "Well if you get dragged away from your makeout spot complain enough for show but it's because it's setting up an eventual contingency plan. Gotta get the buzzkill rep up so when royal relatives come knocking it's completely normal I'd get to you and drag you away first. Thank yous in cookies are very okay for that too," she adds, finishing off another.

"Same principle at least. Relatively easily is fine, I don't think anyone would raise eyebrows at me being able to get into the less easy to reach places. Bat training meets flight. But as long as it's a good escape route in case needed too, you never know about royalty. I hear the king is real grouchy, the rest don't seem to be but you never know how they react to their little girl and a Harper. You guys have a reputation," she smirked slightly.
