"Next time it'll take you even more tries," she assured him. "And cookies obviously work for forgiveness one incident at a time, no blanket ones. But deal, you keep it a secret and maybe I'll share some with you, and of course not tell anyone you actually respected someone's rules and came for forgiveness instead of skipping all that and brushing it off.
