New but not surprising. This is Gotham after all.
While Maria was dealing with that drug ring that had caught the interest of the Shiva and Scandal related people, Thomas had his own mystery to solve. Namely, tracking that massacre in the warehouse back to White and finding out how he was doing this and what he was up to. And of course finding out what that new team of his he'd hired was.

So Thomas made his way to find out where the contact Peters is, only to arrive just outside the warehouse to hear a scream of pain.

Shit, someone was here first.

	"I can't help what the Columbians do! C'mon, man! I got money, a lot of it! Just let me walk!" Peters, a scrawny man in a suit, begged. Across from him stoof a lean, average-sized man, clad in black kevlar, but wearing a grinning skull-mask. The man held a gleaming blade in his hand, saying nothing in reply, but a small giggle. 	Oh great, knife wielding masked man with...a giggle. Great. Just great. A new crazy. A batarang flies out of the shadows, aimed at the knife-wielding hand with the intent to knock it out of the man's hand at the very least. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	The masked man moves on Peters when Thomas' batarang connects, sending the knife flying. He turns in the direction the batarang came from, seeming to giggle..questioningly? (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

There's nothing but shadows from where the batarang came from and a tension-filled silence descends for a moment, before the next thing out of the shadows are smoke pellets that burst as they hit the ground in front of the masked man.

Robin uses the cover to now dive in after and get Peters away from the man. He needs the contact to question after all. Grabbing the man by his collar, amid the smoke it's hard to see but Peters will at least hear the order hissed at him. "Run." Of course Robin would have attached a tracking device on the collar he grabbed, he was a practical Bat after all.

	Peters didn't need told twice and darts through the smoke. Thomas may hear the near-silent, rapid footsteps as the masked man eerily seemed to know where Thomas was. A pair of smaller knives, one in each hand, came at Thomas in rapid strikes. The giggling resumed. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Ugh, giggling. Too Joker-ish for his tastes. Thomas shoved Peters away to get the man running from this, and he turned to bring up his cape to block the strikes. Sure, some could go through, but the cape was a lot more durable than people thought. Kevlar woven in, flame-proof, and able to become rigid for gliding purposes. It'd do the job of at least preventing the blades from reaching his body.

Taking opening while the guy was striking, Thomas went low with his foot going between the man's legs to try and hit the back of one of the knees and bring the guy to the ground.

The knives are more than meets the eye as well. The knives were laced were laser-sharpened and did indeed cut into the cape. However it had the desired effect of keeping Thomas' body safe as his leg went for the masked man's knee. The blow connected, sending him to the ground but almost instantly he leapt off his back, springing back on his feet.

"Hee hee," The man waved a knife almost in a tsk, tsk gesture.

	The man doesn't respond to Robin, instead he lashes out, knife-strikes deflecting the batarangs as they came at him. The man then takes the tip of his knife and runs it along the rictus skull-grin of his mask before giving a light chuckle. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

It seemed they were both feeling each other's fighting styles out at the moment. Well, time to test things out. Robin charges forward, leaping off a box for some height and seems to descend upon his target, bo staff pulled out and ready to attack. Really he had no intention of such a frontal attack, it was a feint to instead duck low again and this time take him off his feet with the bo staff.

	The masked man threw his knives up at the descending Thomas as he personally dashed backwards, not waiting to see what Thomas did. He pulled out another pair of knives, these with a darker, eerie shine to them. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Thomas blocked the knives with his bo staff and landed on his feet. It was fine that the guy was putting more distance between them. Because with his staff, Thomas had the longer reach in this fight. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Ah, that old trick. Well good to know how this man worked.

Thomas makes sure to keep enough distance to stay out of the range of the kicks and strikes but still within striking range with his staff. He had to press the reach advantage, which at the moment meant focusing on footwork and swatting away attacks in between jabs and sweeping attacks at the man's joints, even a good jab attempt at the solar plexus.

The man's kevlar suit cushioned the blows somewhat, but they still hurt. He catches a glimpse out of the corner of his eye of Peters darting out the door. He seems to press something in the handle of one of his knives and flings it at Thomas' feet. The assassin darts away from him toward the door, while Thomas may notice the flashing red button on the blade's hilt..a bomb.

Yeah, he doesn't need long to register at all what it is, especially once he sees that the knife isn't being aimed to hit him. He's already booking it away, so the explosion doesn't do much but make him miss a few steps as the force of it comes on his dash away. But he's still on his feet and after the man though. Two could play at the game. A small capsule is tossed in far enough in front of the man that he'd have an issue just running over it, and explodes into a burst of blinding light.

Thomas shields his eyes from the flashbang as it goes off.

Thomas comes in from behind, taking his chance to attack while his opponent's back is exposed. The first hit is of course to a weak spot, base of the skull, where there's less likely to be much armour padding on top of it too. He's hoping for unconscious and to end this fast but just in case he doesn't stop there. The next swing is to the back of the knees, strong enough on some people and he could probably dislocate them, but at the very least bring an opponent to their knees.

	The blow to the neck connects, though the assassin stubbornly retains consciousness. However, Thomas' strike to his knees sends him to the ground. However, even on the ground and in pain, he's still giggling. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Not wasting time, he stomps on one of the man's wrists to at least prevent him from using that hand disarm him, while the bo staff comes down in a powerful jab to disarm the other hand. With the man lying face down the boot knives were not a real issue in this position, especially since Thomas still had the staff and another foot free to knock them down if need be.

"So...time to talk. I have a good idea who you work for so let's skip that so you can tell me what exactly White hired you for."

He sighs and uses the bo staff to knock the knives the man had been holding before he'd disarmed him away. Ugh, crazies were annoying. At least he just sent a signal to the police who should be coming soon.

"And what are you supposed to be? Some cross between the Joker and a knife for hire? Cut the giggling and talk." With the end of the bo staff he jams it into the edge of the man's mask, possible with the guy face down, to try and loosen or knock the thing off.

	And what Thomas will find underneath that mask is..disturbing. While the top-half of the man's face was unremarkable. The bottom..the skin was completely cut away, grotesquely exposing the man's teeth and dark, scarred skin barely covering the skull. The man tries to hide his face from view. "Hmmm," Thomas says with a raised eyebrow, trying to note what sort of incident would cause that sort of damage and if he could look similar ones up and see if he could find out the man's identity. Very distinct looking injuries, knives no doubt, perhaps due to torture. And...well no tongue it seemed. "That would explain quite a bit." Luckily the police would be here soon to take him away and get some more information, maybe fingerprints that might find a hit in the system.

	Indeed the police arrive not too long afterwards. "Freeze! Oh," the officer in question notes when he notices Robin. "Sorry..that the per-dear God! Is that he's face!?" Thomas pauses and holds up a hand before they can get the guy in to take him away. "Do me a favour? Keep him in a solitary holding cell for a few days until I sort some things out. Arkham won't be good for him and he's needed in order to track some leads on that massacre not long ago. Tell the Commissioner I'll come and personally request it of him if need be, but keep him out of Arkham for the next bit."

Because White had more connections in Arkham than anywhere else, if he let them take the giggler there than there'd have been no point in taking him down.
