Flying Blind
Riley looked at himself in the mirror and curled up his face. This was so not his style, on any level. He was wearing a necktie for crying out loud. Yes he'd promised Henry he'd clean up and wear a suit, but this was so weird. He didn't do the suit and tie thing, and he'd certainly never been on a blind date before. He'd never been on ANY dates before. It just wasn't something he'd really made a priority in his life. He'd never even really thought about what his 'type' was.

Henry had made some valid observations though, and he'd been persuasive. Henry usually was. He did need to get out more. As it was lately, he'd bee spending every waking moment not in school on patrol, with or without Dinah.

Should he have told Dinah he'd be busy tonight? He can always tell her if she contacts him.

He sits down, fidgeting with the buttons on his sleeves, waiting for Henry to call with the info about where to meet his mystery date.

	"Oh really?" Alex asks. When Riley leans in, Alex holds his breath a moment, wondering what's about to happen. At the whisper he can't help but snicker. "Right here and now?" he whispers back. 	Alex winces and mentally kicks himself a few times. "Sorry. Don't worry about it ," he says, smiling again. "I shouldn't be so...outgoing all the time," he chuckles. There's a small pause. "I'm the first guy you've dated, aren't I?" he takes a guess. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Alex waves it off. He starts to say something else but stops at the admission.

"Really?" he asks, blushing himself a little. "With how amazing you look," he gestures up and down. "And so far great personality...huh..." he trails off. There's a pause before Alex nods and grins. "Right! Guess we'll just have to make sure you have a great time on your first date ever then," he declares cheerfully.

Riley's cheeks pink at the continued praise, but he grins. He took compliments a lot differently when it was as plain old Riley Carter, instead of Goldstar. "Thanks Alex, I--"

He's interrupted as a elderly woman further down the car cries out as some people shuffle on and off. A pair of glasses ends up kicked down towards him. "I got it!" He bends over at the waist to get them, then returns them. "Here you are, ma'am."

He walks back to Alex. "Sorry for the interruption. I appreciate you being so understanding." He pauses. "So... I'm guessing you have some experience at the dating guys thing?"

Alex keeps smiling, finding the pink cheeks pretty cute. He jumps at the cry, silently cursing whatever bad guy or villain decided to show yp and volunteer for a world class backside kicking.

He calms down as it's revealed to just be glasses. He can't help but grin as Riley offers to be so helpful and nods. When the green haired man bends, Alex takes the chance to check out his rear. And that's when it hits him. He recognizes those perfect buns!

The Lantern's jaw drops. The hair, the body, that personality that just seemed to draw him in...Alex wonders how he didn't notice sooner and immediately goes pink.

He regains composure by the time Riley comes back. "Yeah," he admits, rubbing the back of his neck. "I've been on a few dates," he says. The adopted young man glances back and forth before leaning in to whisper something to Riley's ear.

"So. You're Goldstar?" he asks, confident he's got it right.

Alex grins and pats Riley's shoulder. "Relax, Riley," he chuckles. "Took me awhile to finally recognize you," he neglects to mention just what he recognized, not wanting to make the other hero uncomfortable again. "But I did. YOu and me have met before. We fought that mass of freaky toys together and the evil teddybear bit your backside," he goes on, whispering.

Holding up his hand, Alex lets his ring become visible for a moment. "Remember?"

	Alex lets out a little laugh when poked, shaking his head. "Oh, I'll be happy to show ya," he offers, actually meaning it innocently for once. 	Alex pauses a moment and stares. Eventually he just starts laughing. "Dude..." he gets out after a moment. 	Riley noticeably lights up. "You think so? Thanks. I did the preliminary design, and-- Blue did the coding and stuff." He was never sure if she was going by Blue Beetle or Scarab this week.
