Workout time
Her hair gotten up, Cindy followed to the JSA's workout room. And tried to calm herself down.

She was normally a very private person about That Sort of Thing. There never seemed any point in mentioning her preferences to people because she didn't expect to be dating for a long, long time. Maybe after she'd had time to really establish herself. Market herself. Really showcase her brains and capabilities. Maybe then someone would want her.

Today had blindsided her. But she wasn't complaining.

And besides it was good to get started on the training right out. She had a lot to learn.

"Look, Cindy, maybe this isn't such a good idea, considering who you are. Nic has been through a lot lately, and she doesn't need the added drama of being associated with...whatever it is your old man is accused of being this week." Rex says.

"You want to learn to fight, I'm sure your old man can pay for a women's self-defense class. Whatever game you're trying to play with my sister, I'd call it a favor if you changed your mind and let it go." Rex tells her.

Cindy straightens a little extra, although she still has to look up quite a bit at Rex.
"He's an insurance consultant this week," she deadpans. "I trust it won't be too dramatic. And my parents have never managed to make me an accessory to anything, much less anyone with whom I might associate."

"He did. Among other things, it wasn't enough for what I need. So I'm afraid you're going to just have to excuse my continuing to make it Nic's call how these lessons -- and outings to cafes and such -- proceed."

Rex stares the girl down, his current tactic not going as he thought. If Cindy were a boy, this would be no issue. Explain how many ways he'd be eviscerated if Nic came home upset, call it done.

He can't take that tack with a girl and it would likely have gone better if Aleea had been here to answer the door. As it is, Rex decides that, if he can't shut this down, Cindy could still understand who she's dealing with.

"Nic's curfew is 9:00 pm. Not 9:01, not 9:05. If she isn't here by that time, I'm going to assume the worst and come looking for her, Cindy. And I'll start at your house." Rex says. With my axe and mace. he finishes silently.

"NIC! Your friend is here!" Rex says.

Wings. No wings. Wings. No wings. Wings. Nic ran through the trick that Rex had taught her for hiding her wings countless times as she got ready until finally she decided it was definitely wings. It made getting dressed easier save for her not having a clue what to wear. Most of Nic's nicer clothes were more geared to going out. Ultimately she went with the tamest of her going out shirts and a pair of jeans, threw on some chains, and called it good. As she heard Rex, she ran to greet...

...and caught the stareup.

"Um. Wow. So Rex, this is Cindy. Cindy, this is my brother."

"Thanks. I'm totally overdressed. I just don't have a lot between 'casual' and 'Sunday Best', you know? Haven't had a lot of need for between those."

They get walking.

"So is it okay to ask why you haven't been out much lately?" She'd heard the JSA had had a pretty big mess to deal with recently, but the details hadn't trickled out far enough. And Rex had said she'd been through a lot. "Totally up to you, there, if you don't feel like it, we can talk food and books and whether it's true that it's possible to beat somebody up with just one's elbow, the heel of one's palm, and that bit between the thumb and the forefinger."

	Nic didn't ask. She just picked Cindy up by wrapping her arms around her and with a couple of beats of her wings, the two girls were in the air and had gained quite a bit of altitude, enough so that Nic started gliding a bit. 	And in they go, and it's a nice little place, and does indeed serve breakfast 24/7. The smell of various kinds of cooked pig wafts through the air. They take a table, and the waitress is possibly strangely fast to come and take their drink orders. "Lemonade, and a preliminary side-order of maple bacon, and ...?" She then looks to Nic.
