From the Depths of Hades
There was a low rumbling deep within the Earth near Taenarum, Greece. The rumbling grew louder and louder until it seemed like there was an earthquake. Local residents ran for doorframes. The Earth erupted and dirt, rocks and plants were sprayed into the air. A gaping maw formed in the Earth and the pit seemed bottomless.

The pit was not empty.

Beings and creatures that had not seen the light of day in over two thousands years climbed from the pit and stepped out onto the Earth.

"And TIME." Zach calls out as the last lock comes undone. He shrugs the myriad of chains and padlocks off himself, whistling for a stage-hand to lower the rope he'd been suspended from.

"Twelve-point-two. Good work boss."

"Not good enough. Scott Free would have had it in eight." Zach mutters as he runs a hand through his hair after righting himself.

Bruno tilts his head. "You okay boss? You seem distracted." He grimaces. "Magic stuff?"

"Yeah....I--" He cuts off abruptly. Something's coming. It doesn't set off a full scale alert, but it's definitely something to take precautions about. "Everyone, take twenty. If I don't call you back, enjoy a night off and I'll see you tomorrow. LEAVE."

Bruno, being seasoned help for Zachary by now, ushers out the less experienced workers, assuring them it's just part of the quirks of working for a Zatara.

Zach magically locks the doors once the civilians have gone, before conjuring up the appropriate reception, now that he's pegged one of the incoming. He smirks.

"Eblat, sriahc, aet dna senocs." He seats himself once the arrangement appears, steeped and piping hot. He props up his head on one arm, smirking.

Zach takes a long sip of his tea, collecting his thoughts.

"It's about the ebb and flow, isn't it? Magic's been picking up speed the past few months. We're hitting a swell in the cycle of it. Not a new Age, thank goodness, but important to be ready for."

He sets his cup down, snatching up a scone and taking a vicious bite out of it. "And here stewarding Shadowpact was such an easy gig... well, vacation's over I suppose."

He pulls out his phone. "Bruno? Yeah. You're clear for the night.

No, no shows for at least two weeks.

Yes, I know they'll be mad.

So call the girl.

Oh for crying out loud... she's a cute teenage girl in a skintight outfit. The audience won't care if it's an pure escapist act rather than an illusionist one. Just tell her to hold the explosions. The Bellagio's insurance isn't as expansive.

Fine. I'll be in touch."

He looks back to Craft. "And? Walk me through whatever's going on that forced you to swallow your pride and come scurrying to the World's Greatest."

Zach wipes his mouth, before standing and bowing to his guests. "Zachary Zatara - World's Greatest Magician. Also, senior member of Shadowpact, which is the lion's share of the reason why Vicky is here."

He processes the bit about the dog. "Hmph. Well that would align with the Minotaur in the corn-maze in Alabama... not to mention the gremlin infestation at Narita International. Lost a good set of luggage." He grunts. "I've been kept busy, but it's been more a matter of quantity than intensity. It would appear things are stepping up."

He fishes a piece of chalk from his pocket and draws a doorway on the floor, knob and all, which he then swings open. "Shadowcrest awaits, to those who would wish it no harm." He gestures. Zach smirks as he pats Mike on the back and ushers him throw, making the 90 degree pivot into the floor as physics bend around the door, shutting it behind him as they emerge in the front foyer of Shadowcrest.

"Kid... I can get you to places that serve drinks to curl a Czarnian's toes. Not my idea of a good time though." He chuckles. "Welcome to my humble ancestral home."

	Mike had been to Shadowcrest a couple of time to with Sin so he knew the place a bit. 	Fresh from her fight with Medusa, Sindella had teleported back to Shadowcrest...with the Medusa statue in tow, as she wasn't sure what to do with it. She made her way to the library for a solution. Zach grins, genuinely delighted to see his 'niece' (since first cousin once removed didn't quite have the right ring to it for their interactions); he strides over to hug her. "Hello Sindella. Just stopping by to do some research. Miss Craft is a bit moody, but she's a worthwhile ally."

He regards her statue. "...I'm going out on a limb here and guessing that's a genuine article." He cocks his head. "Enchanted mirror or some kind of counter-hex to turn back the gaze?"

She went on to explain. "The fortunate thing about most of the magical happenings in this world, is that the gods, by and large, are forbidden from direct intervention in the world; they require avatars and intermediaries.

The same rules, however, are less strict when it comes to creatures. The rules do love their loopholes, and in this case, a being from the immortal realms could have easily let these creatures loose, and because they were not acting directly upon this plane, escape blame."

Maybe she wanted to stir up a little trouble and watch the other gods writhe as they watched, knowing that they couldn't get involved." Yes, there is an upside to having Wonder Woman for a godmother.
