A Flight in the Night That Might Bring Delight
Well, that had been one mission to save the past she hoped quickly for forget. Traveling back to the dawn of mankind, nearly getting eaten by a dinosaur (apparently, the history books were wrong), getting stripped down to a fur bikini and nearly sacrificed to a volcano (thank goodness they kept back-up uniforms at Rip's), and, well... she really wanted to forget it all.

Fortunately, flying back to Gotham, in Riley's arms this time--she was too tired to hang onto his back--was a good distraction.

"I can't believe Rip said it was okay for Anthro to keep the jacket," Dinah said.

	Did... did she put perfume on? Maybe she always smelled that way and he was just used to it. Damn nerves. Making him all perceptive. "So.. sorry I freaked out. And that I didn't say anything after. He takes a breath, then starts talking quickly.

"Okay, I know there's supposed to be more banter and big words and fluffy prose, but I gotta say this before I decide not to say it.

Dinah, I love you. I'm IN love with you. You're the best thing to ever be in my life, and I can't imagine my life without you.

And don't try to tell me what to think or not think. I'm old enough to know the difference between a crush and real love, and I love you. I can barely imagine being attracted to anyone else, let alone being in love with them."

And then he shuts up before he sounds like a stalker, blushing up to his ears.

Well. That hadn't been entirely unexpected, but she hadn't been expecting him to pour everything out like that all at once.

"Riley..." she started. "You're my best friend. Always have been. Always will be. You've always been there for me, whenever I've needed you.

It's funny. Any time I' talk about you with other people, everybody always thought you were my boyfriend. And I'm pretty sure Petra and Cindy have been running a pool on us getting together.

Pretty sure everybody else saw it except for you and me."

She scooted closer to him and put her arms around him. "Shouldn't have taken me this long to see how much I was in love with you."

And she pulled him into a kiss.

Riley's body visibly relaxed, although he was still hanging on her every word and waiting for a 'but'.

Then the arms started going around him.

And then everything was right with the world. His arms go around her waist and she gets lifted right into his lap. It's a bit clumsy, but most of his focus is on making sure that kiss doesn't stop, like it's going to stop being real if he breaks it.

	"Absolutely" he says and exhales at the same time. He hugs her, tucking her head under his chin and smelling her hair. "This does change a few things though." He says quietly.
