Admission of Guilt (Open to Avia, Barda and Scott)
An hour after Hope's abduction, Rex asks Avia to call her parents and tell them he needs to speak to them immediately at the Brownstone. 

Rather than hunt them down, he'll let the people with Boom Tubes come to him for ease of travel...and because most people would rather die someplace familiar than elsewhere.

Darkseid squeezed harder, feeling Rex's throat give under his massive hand.

"No. I won't."

Blood trickles from Rex's mouth as his throat is crushed further. He gurgles, his eyes widening in panic as he feels the air and life leave him.

At least Hope is safe. I did what I came to do. Rex thinks.

He wishes he could tell her to just run and leave him now. He hopes Goddess Junior get that bright idea now.

"Hope. Go after your lover." Himon tells her as he lunges forward to stab an inmate.

Then, he attacks everyone in the crowd so as to keep them from attacking Hope.

Every movement bringing her pain, Avia rushed from the other side than the one Hope was taking. If she could get him to drop Rex... she could get him out of there.

Darkseid makes Avia's job easy; he tosses Rex at her full-bore, even as the young man chokes on his own blood.

Omega Beams curve around his skull to fire at Hope.

The Omega Beams incinerated Hope's axe, and she threw up her arms to block her face. She bit her lip to keep herself from crying out in pain.

"Get Rex out of here!" She called to Avia over her shoulder.

Avia's knees buckled as she caught Rex, nearly falling over backwards. The impact made her burns hurt all the more.

She manifested her aero disks, taking some of the weight off her legs so she could still hold Rex while in retreat.

There is the sound of a Boom Tube opening high above the battle field. Streaming into orbit over Apokolips are ships that everyone recognizes as well as soldiers from New Genesis.

However, there are other ships among the fleet that are not familiar, with the logo of a three-beast among them.

Highfather's voice echoes through the minds of all present as he enters the atmosphere on a flight disc.

"Darkseid! You have attacked my son and grandchildren. You have attacked a human, whose people fall under the protection of New Genesis! Apokolips has violated the treatise of peace with New Genesis and declares itself ready for war!

Surrender now or face destruction!" Highfather commands.

Darkseid's eyes narrow in contempt. Hope is all but forgotten as Darkseid casts his gaze skyward.

"You go too far, Izaya. Those who war against Apokolips fall. Scott Free attacked /me/ and my people. It is New Genesis who has violated the treaty.

Take your ships and leave or I will defend myself and destroy you and your...mysterious allies." Darkseid says, looking over the other ships. He recognizes the logo on the ships, but has yet to determine who it belongs to.

When he does, they shall pay for this insult as well.

Himon smiles at the arrival of Highfather and his allies. The inmates surrounding him relent, unsure of what this means.

Himon knows /exactly/ what it means: his deal with Cerberus and their leader, the Elusive Man, has paid off.

However, Himon also knows that he will soon have to repay this favor in some way, and the Elusive Man is not known to be an easy task master.

"It is over, Darkseid! Stand down!" Himon yells.

Scott stood his ground, a bit puzzled by just who had accompanied his father, but saving that particular discussion for a later moment.

"I'd listen to him, Darkseid. This isn't a fight you're going to win, one way or the other. Only choice is whether or not you get to walk away to plot another day."

Avia cradled Rex in her arms. Her Mother Box had gone silent again. It had woken enough to save her, its bonded owner, but she couldn't get anything else out of it. Couldn't use it to heal Rex.

"C'mon... be okay, Rexy-poo..."

Hope dropped down to knees.

"Please Rex...don't leave me." She fought back tears. She wouldn't allow Darkseid to see her cry. "Please don't leave me."

"You believe that I am unprepared, Highfather? While you speak, my own weapons have come online." Darkseid says.

Another Boom Tube opens, and the forces of Apokolips appear opposite those of New Genesis.

"We are matched, Highfather. You /may/ win today...but if you do not...then New Genesis shall be mine." he smiles.

"Destroy them." Darkseid commands.
