Quodpot and Quidditch Results from October 22nd

Another upset for Team B, which lost to their home field rival Team A. Perhaps those new team names will help Veronica Cantrell get her head back in the game. Final score was 220 to 30.

Champlain crushed Hudson house this week with an unstoppable defense. Scoring 32 points to Hudson's 3, Champlain dominated the day.

Perhaps next weeks match ups of Team A vs. Big Sky (away) and Hulett vs. Putnam won't play so one-sided.

Thorny
Who: Professor Templeton Morse, Hawthorne and Mikhail Nikitin, Regina Beulen
What: Thorn screws up pretty badly and the parents are called in.
Where: Professor Morse's office
When: Backdated a bit. Tuesday October 18th, evening.
Rating: Mostly SFW

Thorn was probably the worst TA in the history of Dresden's University program.

Professor Morse knew what he was getting himself into, but he didn't think Hawthorne would test his patience so early in the year. )

Subject: Quidditch Team Names

Dear students and faculty,

I think it's time we shed our Quidditch team monikers of A and B. Frankly I'm sick of being called Team B. As president of the student government, I propose that we give our teams proper names.

I will be accepting nominations for team names this week and will choose only appropriate suggestions to vote on. Feel free to email me with as many ideas as you might have.

Thank you,
Veronica Cantrell

Quodpot and Quidditch Results from October 16th

It was an exciting double header for Quidditch this weekend on the home pitch. Team A played against Victoria College's Moose while Team B took on the Jaybirds.

Team A pulled an impressive last minute win over the Moose. Team B didn't have the same gusto as their last game and simply could not hold their own against the Jaybirds. Seeker Veronica Cantrell could hardly keep her seat on the broom.

On the quodpot side of the pitch Hudson reminded everyone that they were fully prepared to take down Clemons. Everyone was surprised to see Luka Nikitin actually on the field of play, but he couldn't seem to get anything past Maddy Cooper. On the other hand, no one was surprised at the amount of personal fouls called on Ryder Balston.

Next week finds Team A facing off against Team B and Hudson squaring off against Champlain.

Backdated: Catching up

James Walsh
Who: Professor James Walsh and Bill Ford
What: Parents Weekend! Old friends catch up.
Where: Professor Walsh's office, St George's Pub
When: Afternoon-to-evening, Saturday 24th September.
Rating: PG? SFW...ish? Those teachers are a lot more interesting out of student earshot.

Parents’ Weekend was a yearly ritual that James Walsh could do without. It had originally started as a way for the new students to reassure their parents that they were in good hands and to show them the type of environment they were leaving their children in, but had soon become almost a publicity event for the school. Advanced students were poked and prodded into showing off the marvelous things they’d been taught, and the sporting teams played rough to show off who was the toughest and best before any in-season punishments could be dealt out. He’d very strongly encouraged (read: ordered) the Champlain Quodpot team not to participate in the exhibition match because knowing Lars, he would have very carefully not recommended that the Clemons players take out their biggest rivals by means of in-game ‘accidents’.

The worst part though, was the overinvolved parents who took the opportunity to harrass the teachers about their child’s progress (or in most cases, lack thereof). He got it more often than other professors, if by virtue of the classes he led. Wandless Magic was a particularly difficult subject at the best of times, and because of the dangers an irresponsible user presented to other witches and wizards, he did not take even the slightest misbehavior lightly. Just as many kids had been thrown out on their asses as had passed the class.

Apparation was far worse, because any student at all could take it. )

What: Parents Weekend! A super awkward lunch and then a fight and then some cute.
Where: Luka's dorm room, a restaurant in Canada, St George's Way
When: Lunchtime, Saturday 24th September.
Rating: PG?

Luka spent much of Saturday morning trying to sort his head out. Arnaud was good enough to clear out of the room and mingle with some of his other friends and their families. It gave Luka just enough time to plaster a fake smile on when his parent's arrived to pick him up for lunch.

He'd been planning on introducing them to Adelaide, which was practically like proposing marriage at this stage of the game. Luka never introduced girls to his parents. )

Jesus Suarez
Who: Jesus Suarez, Simone Legaux, OPEN (to multiple characters)
When: Saturday of Parents' Weekend
Where: All over Dresden Campus (maybe St. George's Way)
What: Jesus and Simone wander around and throw some shade.
Rating: Serious trolling

So far, Jesus was really loving this parents' weekend thing. After the little feng shui makeover they performed on Adelaide's room, Jesus and Simone wandered the campus. Simone had been explaining little bits of the wizarding culture as they went, but Jesus couldn't help the wonder he felt at seeing it in person.

It also didn't stop him from judging the hell out of the students that Adelaide went to school with. He'd been fairly good on Friday, keeping most of his running commentary to himself, but by Saturday he was overflowing. He leaned into Simone as they gamboled across campus hand in hand. "My god, these kids need fashion magazines posted all around campus. Stat."

In the opening Quidditch game of the season Team B pulled off a stunning victory over Team A. Leland Sykes pulled off some excellent assists as the blind side beater and our newly elected student government president, Veronica Cantrell clinched the win with a brilliant play to catch the snitch before Team A could even score a point.

On the other side of the pitch, Champlain maintained their status as the team to beat by opening strong and defeating House Hulett for the official first win of the season. Professor Walsh has it out for you Professor Behrend, might want to get your team out on the field for more practice.

As a reminder there are no games next weekend for Columbus Day break, but when we come back Victoria College challenges both of our quidditch teams on our turf and Clemons Vs. Hudson for quodpot. It's sure to be an interesting face off between the 2nd and 3rd place teams from last year; who really wants to take on Champlain for the throne?

Homecoming

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Dresden
Homecoming, as the first major school social event of the year, was always met with great anticipation by the students. This year the Events Committee had decided on a theme of 'At The Movies', and the ballroom was decorated appropriately.

A long red carpet led into the hall, and just before entering into the dance itself, a 'paparazzo' would take portraits of the attendees, on their own or in couples or groups. The red carpet continued into the ballroom itself. Small tables with black and white decorations peppered the outside of the open center of the hall, which was being used as a dancefloor. Balloons covered the ceiling, and a refreshments and snacks table sat off to the side, guarded at all times by a vigilant adult.

A small podium was elevated on the opposite side of the dancefloor from the drinks table; where the 'Oscars' would be announced and given out. Towards the back, a small area for the entertainment. The local band Vampira had been hired again, after attempts to coax the students into performing (for free) had failed.

It didn't matter though. The night was young and sure to be, as always, a roaring success.

[OOC: Hop in anywhere you like except for the Homecoming Court slot. Save that for the winners!]

When: Friday afternoon of Parents' Weekend
Where: Luka and Arnaud's dorm room, St. George's Way
What: Luka and Arnaud spend a bit of time with Luka's parents. Dmitri drops a bomb on his son.
Rating: Mostly SFW

The yearly ritual had returned, another parents' weekend at Dresden Academy. They'd been coming every year, making the trek up from New York City to support their son and their daughter before him. Even though Luka had been over it his freshman year, Dmitri and Chloe Nikitin continued to make the effort.

It was always nice to visit the quaint campus and wander down by St. George's Way. They booked a room months in advance at Bard's Inn. Checking in, they dropped their bags and took the leisurely stroll along the path to the Dresden campus.

Chloe poked her husband in the side; something about these school weekends always put her in a playful mood. )

Bill Ford hadn't been to one of these things the entire time Abernathy was at school. There was always the risk he'd be recognized by one of his former classmates; surely they had children, some of them were educators at the school. The gig would be up immediately. )

Pepper loved Parents' Weekend. It was probably one of the busiest times of year for her, besides that weird upswing over the summer around sorting at Dresden when parents brought their children in for their very first wand. She doubted any one would actually purchase a wand today, but people liked to look and ask questions.

She made sure the shop was perfectly clean before she opened and spent the next several hours wandering politely hovering and being generally available for customers. )
