+2 honors!
This week's lj-cut dedication goes out to [info]eevee!

01.

02.

Sorry guys, but I held out as long as I could in the hopes that more honors would be submitted for this week. Maybe we'll have better luck next week, yes?

There was some minor confusion on how exactly the lj-cut nomination works. Not only must you nominate someone by commenting with their username, you must also include a little phrase/quote/song lyric/whatever. If your lj-cut nomination is choosen then either [info]roark or I will use your phrase as the text for the lj-cut tags. You can see an example of this in the lj-cut text dedication to [info]eevee. I'll amend the submission rules and the ones in the userinfo to hopefully fix it to where there won't be any more confusion on this matter.

about the lack of honors.

that's sad.
i think once i posted like 6 honors one week & there were 5 others there not by me.

why do people think activeness will magically happen if they don't participate themselves?

I think it has something to do with a bunch of people moving to [info]epichonors lately. Regardless it makes me sad in a way because I remember on Gj how we'd have like 30+ honor posts. now we are lucky if we get ten or so. D:

IMO, I think people don't even come here anymore because it's always the same people and it's always anime. I'm not a fan of anime, so I rarely even bother opening up this entry every week. I agree they must participate in order for it to be active.

Although I like Anime to a degree, I've got to agree to this, as I'm sort of sick of seeing it because there is more depth to your friends [at least there should be] than a common anime you watch. But most of them moved? So maybe the people that don't like ANime will start using this place again.

i agree with both of you. i'm sick of seeing a bunch of anime honors each week, but i was happy that SOMEONE was still posting.

i miss the GJ type of honors & flames. no one on GJ was safe from getting flamed & it wasn't even a close community like i sort of consider scribbld to be. i think people are scared of posting flames like on gj though because they log your IP address here when you comment.

& i think all the flames made people want to honor people more often. which is odd but whenever i'd see a flame that was stupid & senseless, it made me want to honor that person the next week. & then i'd honor a few more because i don't like just posting one honor. idk maybe that's just me.

& [info]windsor, i LOVE that icon. iconzicons is so awesome. :]

I'm assuming you weren't aware of this, but a couple of weeks ago an anon kept leaving derogatory comments directed at the members who often left "anime honors". They whined at how there weren't many honors where the real face of the person being honored was used because, according to this anon, that's how a "real" honor should look. This is why we used to turn off anon commenting. The IPs are logged in the hopes that if this whiny anon shows up again we might be able to warn/report/ban/whatever him or her. To my knowledge [info]roark wants IP logging left on, but perhaps if enough members complain about it I'll talk to her about turning it off.

[info]roark doesn't want [info]honorcup to die and quite frankly neither do I. However she and I can't do it by ourselves. This community needs to strive on member interactions of people honoring other people.

no, i had no clue. i always seem to be out of the loop. =/ i can understand ip logging in [info]honorcup, but [info]flamecup is built on shameless stupidity of anons. it just seems odd to have ip logging in it. i'm sorry, i went & double checked. there is no ip logging for [info]flamecup. i think i mistakenly assumed that since [info]honorcup has ip logging, then they would too. sorry!

i definitely agree with you there. i think you guys are handling it very gracefully. most people would have given up & just given the communities to someone else or let them rot. i don't think the problem lies with the maintainers at all. it's the members who are lazy.

that said, i will probably be posting some honors this week. maybe others will too?

But most of the anime-based flames just use the anime picture because the person they're honoring relates to a certain character or is known by that name online, and usually have what I think is depth in the text of the honor.

I know, I think most of it is the Code Geass craze. I'm so sick of seeing those characters plastered every week everywhere. how there are 34 lulu's on scribbs because everyone has one. Its like come on guys. you've got other characters at least even. pull out an old classic. one of the reasons why I like the random bleach and sailor moon honors sometimes, its nostalgia.

I can see your point, but idk, a lot of them still have depth and I guess that's the real point I wanted to make. And I guess I'm a bit sick of people bitching about anime honors :/

I don't know, I use anime honors a lot of the time because a lot of people (such as myself) aren't comfortable with showing their faces online, etc. Sure, there is more depth than the anime itself in my friendships but I just use it for image purposes, really. The text I write in the honor is the important part. Personally, I don't think it's a big deal, but that's me I guess.

You're echoing the exact same statements [info]roark and I have been saying for many weeks. It's completely counterproductive to want and hope and pray that there's tons of honors yet not pitch in and help by making some, IMHO. Maybe having a bad week like this week will make members realize how important it is to contribute often.

i think you'll have more next week anyway after people seeing this.
