[ closed | on-going ] i think i need my fix.
Who: Ino, Naruto
When: August 18th, evening
Where: Ichiraku's
What: RAMENDATE
Rating/Warnings: ...Let's just make it a PG-13 to start.

As much as she hated to give Naruto what he wanted, Ino did make herself pretty. Not because he said so, but because she wanted to. Because she wouldn't even think about going somewhere without looking her best, even if that somewhere was a hole-in-the-wall ramen joint with sticky counter tops. Even if she was going to that somewhere with Naruto.

But a free dinner was a free dinner. She'd done more than hang out with a retard for less than a little food.

While she waited for said retard to show his face, she primped in the mirror, checking and rechecking her make-up, her outfit--short purple dress, wedge heels, enough skin so that Naruto didn't bitch--her hair. Unfortunately, she hadn't bought a new flat iron yet, so her bedhead was pulled up in a loose bun.

It was eight. Any longer and she might have to wake up Shikamaru.

Hey, he resented that comment. Of course he'd had a number of women that had come and gone in his life. They just didn't stay very long or were mentally insane... or really liked cats. It was never exactly his fault. Most of the time. "Says the girl being paid to go out. I think there's a name for that sorta thing..."

He'd backed away from the door as Ino stepped out, not letting the merciless grin fade even when his ego was stabbed and stepped upon. He had nothing to prove here. Ino very well knew his talents in the classroom, so who gave a damn if she didn't approve of his shenanigans? Then again they were both putting themselves up for disappointment by going out together. Masochists, that's what they were. The only two people dense enough to bother with going through so much pain just for the sake of doing it.

Naruto wondered if it was too late to turn and run.

The tapping foot made him reconsider and give a roll of his eyes. Ino had dressed up and had even given him time out of her oh-so busy life. Sure it was for her own benefit, but that's a lot coming from her. Maybe if he thought of them being that whole friends thing then it wouldn't be so painful. They... were friends, right? Dammit. She could probably out run him, too. All he needed was for her to take a turn on his piercings. Ripping them out one by one.

Already walking ahead, hands stuffed in his pockets, he raised his foot to the door and kicked it open, sliding in front of it to keep it open like the fine gentleman he was. "Don't do me any favors. Some of us have rent to pay and I ain't working extra hours to pay you back."

"Yeah. It's called being an opportunist," she shot back, frowning at the implication that she was a whore. She never particularly liked being called names, despite the fact that she'd been called them all many times, and often--but she supposed it was better than being a slut. At least whores got paid for what they did, and Ino was a firm believer in using her sexuality to her advantage.

The fact that, had she been a guy, she would be a player didn't escape her. She didn't let it bother her either, though. Shame was for the people who'd done something wrong.

Still, she felt the insinuation dig under her skin like a splinter--a familiar splinter, but a splinter nonetheless. If she brushed him a colder shoulder as she passed him out the door, well, she could've done worse. It was just hard when he was doing little cute things like opening doors for her, though she highly suspected he only did it to mock her. To mock their pseudo-date.

Again, she wondered what the hell she was doing with him.

"I won't, trust me," she assured him--more like huffed. It occurred to her, as she was standing out on the sidewalk, that even after however-long they'd known each other, she still didn't know what kind of car he drove. Or bicycle he rode.

"You kids nowadays and your silly slang." Of course he was a jackass about the subject. There was a fine, underlying feeling deep inside that he would never voice to anyone that somehow, someway he found himself liking Yamanaka. As a friend, if you used the bare meaning of the word. He knew about her escapades and wasn't someone who would hide what he knew or not voice what he thought. At least when he was being a manslut he knew he was being a manslut and wasn't given material possessions afterward. Although that would be awesome for his debt issues. Maybe he should follow Ino's lead and look into it...

Said little cute things also weren't on purpose, but rather a subconscious act. A bastard, yes. However, he could be a gentleman and no matter how crude he would be to his fellow blond there must always be manners with a women. To what extent his still questioned. Ino was a big girl. She could stick up for herself.

Though no matter how much both of them pushed aside their obvious relationship with one another out of the public eye and even their minds at some level the basics were still there. She woman. Naruto big man. Naruto hold door for woman. End of story. That is just how it is.

Once they were out of the building Naruto scanned the street and then walked towards the white sign at the curb of the sidewalk, reaching down into his pocket for his pad of passes. He'd gotten the monthly for the occasion and he held one out for Ino to take proudly just as the bus came to a stop in front of him. "Then if you're done bitchin' you can get on. We got places to go, Yamama."

A bus. A bus.

This had to be a joke.

She stared at the ticket he was holding out for her, the tiniest of frowns creasing her brow but otherwise... blankly, because she couldn't believe--she refused to believe this was his mode of transportation. Actually, she refused to believe he would dare do this to her. The subway she could handle, because it was mostly clean and carried salarymen. Handsy salarymen, but they still wore suits and bathed at least once a week.

The bus, on the other hand? There were creatures on the bus, and she was wearing BCBG.

"You're kidding me," she said flatly, and his first hint should've been her tone of voice. His second hint was the fact that she hadn't told him off for butchering her name, and his third hint was definitely, definitely that she hadn't taken the ticket yet.

There was nothing wrong with public transportation. The new people you met everyday was more of a social exchange, rejuvenating and education. Or so he'd like to boast to cover up what was really an infernal tank from Hell that reeked of yesterdays roadkill and the occasional sleeping bum. During the day it wasn't bad. There's barely a place to sit or even stand while the bus is crammed with perverted businessmen and the wise-cracking individuals that want to be hip and conserve gas. For Naruto it was just a way of life. No money for a car. No money for fuel. But enough money to pay for the occasional pass.

So when he held out the ticket and received a huffy nose to the air in response he didn't take it lightly.

"You kidding me?! Don't tell me barbie doesn't like the big bad bus 'cause it doesn't come with a valet." He didn't like the way the bus driver was thrumming the wheel, toeing the gas pedal to get their attention. It wasn't his job to stick around for some random bickering kids and Naruto knew that. All hints aside she should have gotten his by the way he leered over her, buckling down suddenly and throwing the damsel over his shoulder before she could blink.

Because they were going on the bus.

They would ride the bus.

And she would be fucking happy while doing it.

Maybe the third one was a stretch, but it didn't stop Naruto from hauling her into the vehicle and depositing their tickets into the box, holding the woman tightly until the doors were closed shut and they were moving. There was less chance of her escaping that way.
