Entry tags:"to kill a mockingbird", bullseye, hawkeye, mockingbird

It wasn't that long a drive out of the cesspits of Utah into the even more arid, but far more entertaining deserts of Las Vegas, Nevada. Hard to believe they was both settled by the Mormons, hah? Someone musta gotten their messages lost somewhere. Bullseye doesn't have to think which ones he prefers.

The man he's got tied up like a hog in the back of his van is quiet for the moment, but that won't last long. That's alright. Bullseye has some questions he needs answered anyway. Pulling over into a restaurant parking lot, he gets out, opens the back door - careful to make sure his hostage is still unconscious and not waiting to jump him - climbs in and locks back up.

He'll need the suit - if Barton doesn't have it on him, he'll get ahold of one. But first and foremost, he needs answers.

"Nah," he shrugged. "I lose out on ol' Ali there, and I lose out on the job - unless you got some kind of communications device around here to your team. See, I know you ain't working alone these days. So I'm assuming you didn't just send the guy you were supposed to be protecting out on his lonesome into 25,000 square miles of unfamiliar desert without somebody, or something to guide him, right?"

Bullseye grinned, his teeth shining whitely. "I figure, I find something here to link back to your buddies, and I'll find my man sooner or later. Otherwise, I can just wait here till someone comes to claim your body, knowing eventually, they'll have to send someone to identify the remains, and I'll find your friends that way. It's a lot more work, but I'll still get my guy in the end. If not,"

He shrugged again, folding his arms and looking casual, but his taunt posture showed that he was ready to move in less that a moment's notice. "I still get to enjoy your death, and your hubby's, and at the end of things, that's a good day's work, in my book.

"But let's say we avoid all that, and you take me to him. I stop threatening you, you play nice with me, and this will all be over before you know it. I'll tell you where your sweetie is, and you'll have plenty of time to get to him before medical help is pointless.

"Deal?" He held out his hand, weapon free.

Okay there was playing nice and then there was not a good idea. She looked at his hand with a brow up and that natural deep suspiscion on her face.

"But it's so much fun to send people out randomly into the desert to see if they can make it back out." There's a reason she has her code name after all. Sometimes she's just incapable of shutting up when she should.

"We have to do it right or they'll jet him off to the local agency branch. They're a paranoid bunch with good reason. Follow my lead and it'll go fast and easy. Otherwise finding the link to my people eventually or not you'll have to dig our arms dealing friend out of the middle of a helicarrier." Feeling like she was picking up a snake she put her hand into his.

He liked her suspicion. It made him grin, wolfishly.

"Hey, I'm with you on that one," Bullseye say, shrugging. "Ain't nothing funnier than watching a guy run after you as you drive away with the only car in the desert. Unless he's tied up, of course."

He didn't withdraw his hand, waiting patiently as she set some rules he nodded through in apparent acknowledgment. "I do like a good challenge." He didn't shake her hand, so much as squeeze it. "After you, then."

"Come on we need transport since Ali took my car." She was stupid! Why was she doing this! FUCK!

Reaching up she tapped out a code on the communicator she was wearing to redirect it to someone NOT homebase.

"Hey this is Mockingbird the target fled the scene. I need transport to follow and complete the mission." She sighed as she looked at the person with her. "Transport for two."

"We can always take your hu-," Bullseye paused with his trademark grin. "We can always take my bike," he suggested. "It's how I got here, it's right outside."

She may not like it, but for the time being at least, he and blondie were working together, and during that time, she'd have to identify him as her husband, the idiot Hawkeye.

"It'll be quicker."

To say she clenched her teeth would be to put it mildly. "Fine." Clint would be familiar with that tone and usually tried to go in the other direction when it came out.

"Forget the transport but stand by." She clicked off the communicator again. "Let's go."

Yeah, well, Lester wasn't Clint. Opening the door, he held it open, bowing to her chivalrously. "After you, my dear."

The bike was still parked where he'd left it, a block or so down. Starting it, Bullseye grinned to himself as he waited for her to climb on. There were days when he loved his job more than others.

With a look of distaste she got on the bike and balanced herself to hold onto as little of him as possible.

"Head southeast. I'll tell you when to turn."
