He lets Svalin do what she can, quickly, then lifts his axe, bellows a challenge as boldly as he can, and rushes back at the demons. The fatigue and injuries show, he may well be at far more risk than before - but his father will reach Surtur, and Halbjorn will disrupt their sorcerors so his father can do his work, so he swears, with his dying breath if need be.
