Justin Rhodes ([info]iron_hide) wrote in [info]marvel_nextgen,
Justin blinked when he heard Anya refer to his mother by her nickname.

"Wait...you guys still call her Pepper here? Wow. Dad doesn't even call her Pepper back home, not even as a joke. He's ended up on the couch each time he's made the mistake." Justin laughs.

"So...both of them are here? Jim and...Pepper?" he said, trying the nickname out. That was going to take some getting used to.

"I'm happy for you and your parents. Uncle Tony and Natasha...they loved each other, but they were both pretty entrenched in their own lives. Neither of them knew how to make it work, and they parted ways. Tony didn't do so well after that." he says.

"Really, whatever my armor told you, there isn't much to elaborate on. Norman Osborn was appointed Secretary of Defense shortly after the passage of the Superhuman Registration Act. It started out as 'Register or never use your powers or tech again'. After the president and his most of his Cabinet were assassinated, Osborn became President.

No one could stop him, but the Avengers tried. They've all been my family since the day I was born. None of the rest of them had children, so they all pretty much spoiled me, which Mom loved and hated at the same time. I've spent a lot of my life dodging things like that Nimrod Bio-Sentinel you and your friend saved me from. Thank you both, by the way." he says.

"Anyway, Osborn had the tech, the numbers advantage, and little by little, he started taking us down. Uncle Clint and Aunt Bobbie were first. Vision and Quicksilver soon after. Uncle Tony saved my parents when no one else could and he paid for it.

Dad apparently rigged my suit to send me away if things got too bleak, and here I am now. I don't plan on imposing on you guys too long. As soon as I can stand, I'll start looking for ways to get back home." he says.

Dad had to be lying to him. He wouldn't really stick him here for the rest of his life while the rest of the Avengers died in battle. This had to be temporary. Reversible.

It had to.
