Mason gets up, brushing himself off, just looking at the both of them. He reflects that in comic books or manga this is usually when the secondary or tertiary protagonist has a big inner monologue about how he needs to get stronger. That he can't let his teammates get too far ahead, otherwise they won't be able to depend on him.
He's not terribly good at the inner monologue thing though. Or bitterness.
So he smiles, and totally means it. "It's so cool that you can do that now."
