Brother Talk
Darlene didn't get much driving these days, but oil changes were done right on schedule. Hell or high water, oil was changed at 3000 miles or every three months. No excuses. The rebuilt engine of original '71 parts needed babying. The AI inside the car needed another sort of babying.

Misha was whistling to himself, thinking life had thrown him a few curves this time. One was a redhead, the other a blond. They both showed about as much romantic interest in him, and for once he was enjoying it. No pressure or stress necessary. Neither had the friendly insulting banter of his friendship with Sammy, but it was nice. The Embassy suits could run around in circles for all he cared. As long as he didn't make a disgrace of himself on the front page, they had nothign to say that he had to hear.

He finished his automotive puttering with wiping down the interior of the car to a steady stream of complaints and suggestions, some of which were actually doable.

"I hear that. She's pretty gung-ho about it. It works for her, but not for everyone." Anya seemed to forget sometimes that what they all had in common was their Romanov genes, and Mom wasn't exactly corporate herself.

"She has Eliza to drag into the life if she wants a corporate relative. Any particular age group you think you might relate to? Five years old? Ten?"

Admittedly James didn't spend much time with this dimension's Steve Rogers, but he had seen enough of the man to know that community service would be something he would approve of. If it kept him out of the fuss of the succession, he's happy.

"I think she's finished. Maybe. They renovated the hydrobase and us Young Avengers are going to use it as a base. I'm supposed to be there now and pick out a room or something, but I told her to pick one out for me."

He shrugged. Most of the time he just tried to stay out of his sister's way. Unless it was over the use of the bathroom in the mornings. Then he made it a point to get in her way because it drove her crazy.
