Miles To Go, Before You're Done Apologizing
After sufficiently bracing herself for any potential reactions she can foresee, Vincent heads home, avoiding Valeria, as she still doesn't know what to say to her. As usual, he bypasses the lobby in favor of the rooftop access, heading down to the common area. He winces as he walks past Andrea's room, still next to his own. He wonders how long that will last.

She settles into her room, freshening some of the bandages she'd already been fitted with, due to her combat with Halbjorn.

She knows he doesn't need to call Kristoff. Even as hurt as he must still be, her brother's presence is something she can always exp---

No.

No more assumptions. No more of taking him for granted. Not when she can at least stop to think that much. Vincent abruptly finishes the changes quickly, and heads to the intercom.

"Kristoff... I'm home." She swallows, nervous. "Something has happened."

The scientist, or at least magical scholar, in Vincent kicks in for a moment as well.

"I've already begun work on a scanning array that should detect the 'disconnection' of Asgard from the rest of the Worlds, if that day should come within your lifetime. I certainly hope it never becomes necessary."

She crosses the room, embracing her brother with her good arm. "I am still here."

The difference in contact to the opposing chest, in conjunction with that blinking, brings her back to her senses. She clears her throat and steps back.

"Yes, very odd indeed."

"The Avengers mentioned there had been physical effects." A pause. "I believe it is generally appropriate to joke that one always wanted a sister, but truly, it has never been a priority of mine."

Vincent gives a dry smile. "Yes, physical effects."

She looks herself over. "I've decided to wait until I can reverse the effects on my own."

Her expression darkens. "I have much to atone for to begin with, so I'd rather take responsibility for letting myself be kidnapped on my own."

"These things happen, Vincent. No one is holding it against you."

"I am." Vincent sighs.

"For all I've lost, and hurt those closest to me, to be restored, I should at least be able to defend myself."

"Ah." A pause.

"Should it become necessary, there is more of your usual salve on the second shelf of the nearest supply closet."

She nods. "Thank you. I believe I'll recover fine, given a few days. The arm will likely take more than a week, and I'll need your assistance in medical scans to ensure the bones are setting properly." She seems hesitant to admit something, but does it anyway.

"I haven't taken a purely physical beating like that before. I'm not sure how my physiology will respond."

Another pause.

"Kristoff.. I don't believe I can justifiably avoid Valeria any further. What should-- What can I say to her?"

"We'll look it all over very thoroughly," Kristoff agrees.

"I believe it is, at this point, very much Valeria's turn to say something, phral, and yours to listen."

She doesn't have anything to say in response.

Vincent nods quietly. "Yes, Kristoff."

"The two of you can speak shortly." He sets a hand on his brother's shoulder.
