Syd had spent the remainder of the day helping Sarah cook. They had decided on going with a cookout, but salad needed to be made along with other side dishes like potato salad. Bread was baked fresh along with a huge cake. Sarah took care of decorating the cake while Syd worked on husking corn and getting potatoes ready for the grill.
Once it was getting close to the time to eat, Syd and Sarah carried the meat out to the barbecue. Hot dogs, burgers, steaks, chicken and pork were grilled up along with the potatoes and corn on the cob.
She had even managed to get a cask of mead for the occasion. It had cost a pretty penny to have it driven down from up north, but she wanted to make this special for the birthday boy and girls.
She watched Zoey, Ohu, Marlow and Grace prepare the decorations. She didn't say anything. They were busy and keeping out of trouble.
It didn't take them too long to get the food on the table and call everyone to eat.
