Iason can't hold Varnae off forever. For as powerful as he is, even in this young age, Varnae is stronger. But he can control almost everything in his form, in one way or another. He allows Varnae the chance to taste his blood - which is mostly raw energy, and currently burns like fire. The moment after the fangs break the surface of his skin, he unleases a pulse of light right before Varnae's eyes.
The effort, and the loss of blood, whatever it form, and having already been expending significant effort leaves him dizzied, but he hopes it will leave someone a clear opening.
