The night of all nights...
Valeria waited in the living room of area of the Fantastic Four's living area of the Baxter Building for James. It was the night of the senior prom for his high school, and she had butterflies in her stomach. Being home-schooled her entire life, Val had never been to a school dance, let alone a prom. She was both excited and nervous.

She was wearing the same dress that she wore for the wedding in Russia. She loved wearing it, and she didn't think that James would really mind that she didn't get a new one. It was only for one night anyway.

Val sat down on the sofa, making sure not to mess up her dress too much. She knew that they'd probably get their pictures taken two dozen times that night.

Val went invisible. Not wearing her uniform, she knew it wouldn't help much, but it might at least throw the beast off.

The shield certainly helps but it doesn't save James completely, some of the flames getting by to singe his clothes and likely cause some light burning around the legs and elbows. But when the fire stops and the shield connects...the martial artist explodes into little cubes that fade away into nothingness. "GAME OVER" booms from nowhere and the world starts to break away to show the real world again. The monster that has Val lets out a death screech, just scratching her arm as it fades away as well. Whatever all that was...it seems to be over now.

"I have no idea. It was as if we were in a video game," James said as he patted out the flames that were licking the edges of his tux. Mom was going to kill him and then take him shopping.

"Are you okay?" He wasn't really worried about himself. She was a different story.

"I have no idea," he said as he looked her over. He had to make sure she was okay for himself. He'd never be able to live with himself if something happened to her.
