Syd was sitting by the pool enjoying the quiet morning reading over the letter she received from one of her professors. She had read it a few times to make sure she wasn't hallucinating. It was an offer to accompany Dr. Valante on an archeological dig in Rome for the month of July. It was almost too good to pass up.
The two sleeping dogs next to her suddenly jumped up and started barking. Then they took off running. Curious, Syd got up and followed them. That's when she spotted the man standing outside the gate.
"We have company," Syd said over the intercom.
