Returning to the NEW home

It had been a looong few weeks for Sophie. She had returned to the states and her home at the school to tell her parents she was joining a team in europe. There is no way I am allowing my teenage daughter to go live in some country with a group of men I have never met! Sophie had mentioned that her mother did know a few of these people, including some of the guys but it was still a battle. Her father was not by any means alright with the situation, but knew Sophie well enough that she had to do it.

She also told them about not getting into RISD, and her mother stated that she was running away from her problems. Sure the failure had been one of the things that sent her to help out in the first place, but already Sophie loved these people. They were all real down to earth people, that liked her as she was. Granted they could do without the power surges but they liked her non the less.

Having won the fight with some of her fathers help, Sophie was back on the other side of the pond ready to see a welcoming face.

"Tamara!" Sophie said happily, "It's good to be back." Letting the large duffle fall off her shoulder she sighed. "I brought the rest of my crap with me too."

"Extra crap is good," Tamara said, stepping aside to let the other girl in. "Mom and Dad are sending over the rest of my stuff. No longer will I have to worry about having enough underwear to last the week." She laughed.

"I do. But it's nice to have the extra underwear in case I don't feel like doing laundry." Tamara shrugged. "I know how you feel. My mom threw a little 'my baby's going so far away from me' fit too, but she's adjusting. Slowly. It helps that Dad was more easygoing about the whole thing then she was."

"My Dad's all for me going on something that will 'further my knowledge of the word'. I think it's because he's from an alternate dimension." She sat down in the chair next to Sophie, giving her a smile. "And your Dad is pretty laid back to begin with."

A big orange and white cat still exploring his new expanded kingdom wandered in to check out the arrival. He paused by the wall to blink at the two girls chatting.

"Around somewhere," Tamara said. She then turned her head in the direction of the cat. "We have a new addition, though. Meet Yankee Clipper. Jenny's cat." She made clicking noises to try and signal the cat to come closer.

"Yankee Clipper?" Sophie asked, "As in the baseball team or Yankee Doodle Dandy?"

Animals were fun, unpredictable and wonderful to capture on film. It would be fun to have the little guy around.
